Hi All,
I recently purchased a Cigweld 205 Weldskill AC/DC machine with the view to get into TIG welding as a hobby.
I have spent a few hours (in small blocks as time permits) practicing on on various scraps of mild, stainless and aluminium.
I have got to a point where I think I can run a reasonable dry bead and produce an Ok start puddle, but as soon as I try to run a bead it just looks cooked. I have played with settings and set ups, but always end up with the same result. I suspect my electrode height is getting a little loose without me realising. I also find it tricky to see exactly what my height is like, maybe I need glasses...... Maybe I am just too slow once i need to start adding filler.
My questions are:
- Am I best to stick to one metal type for practice, if so what what do you recommend?
- How clearly should I be able to see the tip of my electrode and judge its height?
- Do you have recommendations for practice drills?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers,
