I'd imagine that most if not all of their target audience (white goods owners / look what I can afford types) won't recognise what the original car was.why devalue a name with such magnificent history just to cash in on buyer recognition for a few years?
It doesn’t matter. Loads of things don’t matter. 90% of conversations don’t matter. But we still join in a waffle for hours, and pass criticism etc. What does it matter that the names get recycled, it's only a consumer product they're trying to sell? If the name helps then so be it.
Human nature at least its about cars not politics !It doesn’t matter. Loads of things don’t matter. 90% of conversations don’t matter. But we still join in a waffle for hours, and pass criticism etc.
A combination of reasons, fashion and because people are generally becoming fatter, less fit and more lazy. Also why are almost all cars now some kind of SUV/Cross over thing?
"The Ford Consul Capri was a 2-door coupé version of the Classic, and was available from 1961 until 1964."The "Capri" most of you are referring to was already reusing a name from the original - see my earlier picture of a "classic"
I mean, from a company that had to pay a kit car maker to be able to use another name, as it was recycling/stealing that from another company, it's not that bad
They have and do - which is how I know about them, having only seen a handful over the years, not exactly being a Ford fan I haven't taken much notice though."The Ford Consul Capri was a 2-door coupé version of the Classic, and was available from 1961 until 1964."
Nobody ever called them just a Capri.
Tesla Capri?'Orrible looking thing ..( and it'll prob catch fire !)
I had a black Capri 2.0S - PGE 442P - cost me £200!I had two Capris both were rust buckets even though they were probably only 10 years old , the 2 litre Ghia auto was lucky to get to 20mpg when a hose blew on the motorway i just kept going till i got home when i turned ignition off kept running for about a minute then never ran again was still ticking with heat 2hrs later from memory. Wasnt really sad to see it go infact other than how tail happy it was had more fun ripping the engine out with a hiab and seeing it get turned into a cube.
dittoI did like the look of it and after a mk2 escort 1300 it was a definate improvement but since 1989 ive never owned a ford since that Capri
