Grow then in between the ridges of spuds , start before the potato leaf appears .. lettuce take around three to four weeks to develop.
Even less if you sprinkler cut and come again leaf , you can also grow radish on top of the rows as soon as you have put the spuds in .

Two 10 inch rows of lightly sprinkled cut & come again leaf mix usually sees us with all the leaf we need .

I'd look at that, but didn't leave enough room between potatoes, even before I take into account the ones that I didn't know were there.

I've got some lettuce in a tray that are coming on reasonably well, but I put the rest in the vegetable patch because I've only got so many trays and I think I've been putting too many in each one.

Has anybody got a neat way of attaching down pipes to Aluminium framed greenhouses that have the built in gutter?

We had plastic adaptors that slotted into the end of the gutter but they have UV rotted
and some have fallen apart so back to balancing acts to collect the water into the butts.

To follow up on this, the plastic adaptors have arrived and ( after a bit of trimming ) been fitted.
All we need now is some rain to test them after they passed the watering can test.

As said previously I use the seed sucker to pick up & deposit small seeds one at a time one seed in each bottomless growing tube store them upright in sixes in empty grape punnets till they are big enough to safely plant out , it saves wastage , over production and allows planning of meals & successional sowings.
For flowers , leeks & onions I often sow 30 tubes at a time of each seed type to give me big numbers of plants & loads of bedding annuals & perennials .

Early watering today...I was worried about the greenhouse over heating but seems they're loving it. I've used the cucumber to shade the south side this year...seems to be doing well. Had about 10 so far so going well.

The frame for the kale was made out of some scrap tubing...welded up nice but I was in a hurry so didn't take pics...next time I'll remember.

Were rubbish at actually growing flowers and that type of thing but we get loads of these which I assume are some sort of wild poppy, look really nice and pop up everywhere

A bit of harvesting from 1 plant and we have free seeds to scatter, should brighten the place up for free

Yellow poppies pop up all over the place around here, they are native but dont offer much variety in my intentionally wild front lawn as most of the "weeds" tend to have yellow flowers too. Last year I was going to collect the seeds from some red poppies on my walk to the supermarket but the council or network rail decided to strim them.

I did collect some other native wild flower seeds last year but misplaced them until a few days ago, so a bit late now, I will put the columbine seeds in the fridge for a couple of weeks and plant them this year, hopefully they will get established enough to flower next year as new plants can take 2 years to flower.

I also get a load of yellow poppies, and a few red ones, and massive amounts of wild sweet peas. In fact the latter are a bit of a pain because they're blocking easy access to the greenhouse, and have covered all of the border that I carefully dug all the grass out of.

I noticed a stray potato plant amongst my beans. Must have grown up out of the trench compost. Wasn't sure whether to leave or risk digging it up and transplanting it? From memory though the trench was 18' deep with compost in the base. If I mounded soil up around I figured it might affect the beans:

So I dropped one of my many 200mm dia x 300m long PVC tubes over it:

Sieved some soil and watered / fed. Not sure when it grows up...add another tube with some 3D printed connectors?

Cut a hole in the bottom of an old compost bag, put it over, remove plastic tube and top it up.

That's looking good...I messed mine up. They're the big bushes in my allotment pic...I suspect I'm going to get lots of green and few spuds .

I have to say I'm very happy with the dry vow manure pellets that I'm using...so much easier than the fresh stuff!
