If you’re going on the tidal Severn, get someone who knows the area, tide times, nav channels etc. The Severn has some of the strongest tides in the country and a big tidal range - if things go wrong you’ll be at Lundy before you know it. Another problem is that you will definitely not be a master of your own destiny - any trip you make will have to be with the tide, and you won’t be coming back before the tide turns, at least not with that floating caravan and 40hp.
Completely different if you stick to the canals - pottering about on a boat is so much nicer if you don’t scare the wits out of yourself (and I found that out the hard way..)

What better time to have purchased a floating gin palace! Super job - and I hope you enjoy every moment of it. I can well imagine being sat next to a cool body of water sipping a cool refreshment (Noted you do not overindulge) with no concerns about driving home. (I have done it enough in the past to appreciate it, but not enough to buy a boat)

Worked for an outfit in Gibraltar selling high end AV and as buyers were more often than not very rich with big yachts, would ask me to fit.
True one, guy was having a party but said crack on and fit, was laying speaker cable down inside and it was just minge triangles from one porthole to another, took me ages.
