I was thinking a few week ago, I'm glad my workshop is compact. I'd rather be having to be creative with space, than having a large workshop with empty space.
I know we all tend to think a large workshop would be lovely to have, but I did realise I probably wouldn't feel comfortable in one.

These arrived yesterday.
⅛" brass rivets, to reattach the nameplate. I'll be damned if I can find the "rivets" I took out, but they weren't actually rivets anyhow. They were brass woodscrews. They must have run out of rivets when this was being assembled.

Looks like they've added a 100 pack option now, (either that else I just never noticed that option, the other day), which makes them even cheaper, per rivet. Looked around online, before I ordered these, & once you add vat, (when applicable), & postage, from other suppliers, those above end up being a decent price.

That's proper nice, and well done !
It'll bring new perspectives on sharpness of cutting tools, amongst other things, but is a very versatile bit of kit indeed......

re bigger workshop , all that happens is you end up looking after this and that for so n so , it gets just as cluttered and heating bill/rates etc are extortionate..so yes mid to small is far more sensible really.

Another job off the list. With the base overhanging the front of the bench somewhat, I just wanted a bit of support under there, & also to encase the screw, to protect it. Just needs a bit of thin ply on the front now, but the supports are added.
Placed so that they're under the sides/edges of the foot. Added a couple of thin alu' shims atop them at the front to take as much play as feasible out of that tray.

Add a set of collet blocks, and the Wonderful World of Triangles, Squares, Hexagons and other peculiar shapes becomes routinely obtainable.
Quick to set up, and repeatable in operation....

Collet block as in a collet chuck you can clamp in the vice? If so, I already have an ER40 one knocking about somewhere, due one of @Kram's Amazon bargain posts.
Managed to get the last task I needed to do, before classing it as functional, done.
Made a couple of brass screws for the toolholder housing. It's not the original housing, so they added screws to adust out a bit of sideways slop. I wasn't using the steel ones it had previously. Don't want them scoring the toolholder. I plan on making a replacement housing at some point.
The middle "screw" isn't actually doing anything. It's just there to fill the hole. The top & bottom screws are plenty to achieve the desired purpose.

I'm keeping the toolholder as-is. That's the original one. The housing/holder for it isn't, though. Making something a bit beefier, & not requiring those screws, is on the cards at some future time.

Getting them properly set down parallel and square isn't too difficult, and a simple finger clamp bar usually holds them down well enough.
Developing the digital dexterity to juggle the setup around to rotate the things is something of an art, though......
