Would I not be using 0.8 wire, would they work with that without blowing holes.

nope ,,, I dont find they work well with either ,,, long story short ,,, I went to weld some seat mount bars into a rally car , a friend said the owner had a new welder and all would be grand ,,, so off I went , it was probably a cebora derivative with 0.8 wire and four power settings ,,,, after five mins I just gave up , went and bought a rohr to do the job with , I was waiting for my fronius transsteel to arrive ,,, the rohr welded the job up perfectly . The car was one of the new shape Minis and I would guess its made from 0.7 or 0.8 steel ,,, maybe Im fussy or expect too much result wise but I wouldnt start off with the limitations imposed on me ,, I like adjustability. six settings may get you by ok as the likes of sealey 180 etc only have six settings ,,, but they have a bigger transformer in them and I find them to be smoother , the inverters are way smoother again though and a lot more forgiving .

Tbf I wouldn't knock the Clarke migs too much.....I used a clarke mig pro 90 with argon mix and 0.6 wire for a few years doing car panels and sills and was fairly impressed with build and results on the job. It's limit was with thicker stuff (4mm +), which is where the 150en would be better ..... on the other hand the pro 90 has a 25 amp min, whereas the 150 is a 30 amp machine. Horses for courses......

+1 .....unless you already know migs buying secondhand can be a lottery if you can't test it yourself before buying. But if it's a genuine seller they will offer to do some test welds for you on various materials you provide - assuming gas and reg is available (and it often isn't).
But for buying New .....beware of the cheap Chinese boxes that often have problems out of the box

...and we're just making it worse )Hobby Gas, SGS or Adams, depending on which are stocked nearby. In each case you want to the "light" mix, 5% CO2/95% Argon.

I'd say the Clarke 150en mig would do you ok with a mix gas as @aesmith mentioned.
Don't bother with gasless for body repair work.
Get some scrap metal and just practice with it.

Id ring welding supplies direct, it will save them evil bay fees for a start. As they are our four. Sponsor they might knock a bit more off.
Is a Sealey 155xt any use for body panels.
getting started isnt easy ,,,, someone must be in your area and would let you have a go , thats all you really need . the machine isnt the big part of it , you really can get going with most of the options listed ,,,, dont overthink it.
