peugeot 505 gti

wanted one for a very long time but they're so rare (3 on the road) and if they do come up they're out of my budget

So bought this project sight unseen for £1500

There was a 505 locally that someone had fitted with a 205GTI engine. It was used for banger racing and it was a local legend due to being practically unbeatable.
The engine meant it was fast plus the 505 is built like a tank and can take a good hit and keep running.

funny yoiu mention that when the load all driver loaded it to the trailer he asked if i was gunna banger race it might as well have sworn at me!

But yeah I've heard the 505s are bullet proof, hence why so many were exported to africa and are still running now. Going to try and keep it all original too.

Diesel version the only diesel car (I think) to finish in the top ten of a world rally - 1981 Acropolis.

Remember seeing one in America 25 years ago on a used car lot - looked different as it had twin round sealed beam headlights as a lot of other European cars did (US auto lighting rules used to be very restrictive, limiting what car makers could do - but it did mean you could be pretty sure of finding a new headlight in Walmart on a Sunday as there were only a handful, if that, of different lamps allowed.)

yeah not a fan of the american spec ones, they dont look very nice. same with the mgb gt

My mates dad had several of the estate versions he used to drive from the Midlands through Europe and all over Africa, The best one I remember had been raised and had bigger wheels to cope with rough roads.

There are a lot of 504's in Africa too.

Neighbour had a dark blue 505, luxury model with full leather interior and he kept it well as he was into his classic cars.
Not sure what became of it as he started using a 607 as his Sunday car. Very private person so I didn't like to ask.
He died a few years ago after a long illness and left his wife the headache of selling over 40 vintage and classic cars plus a collection of vintage David Brown tractors and machinery.

We've been talking about getting an automatic standby generator for years. I'm tired of dragging the portable generator out whenever we have a power outage, especially in the middle of the night during a winter snowstorm. We recently took advantage of a sale price on this unit, which I just got around to uncrating today. It's a 24kw model that will run on propane. The automatic transfer switch has already been installed and wired to the mains panel. Before I can install it, I'll need to prepare a pad for it. I'll probably lay down some crushed stone and set a pre-cast concrete generator pad on it. There's a local company that makes the pre-cast pads, which I can pick up myself to save some cash. They're cheaper (and perhaps better?) than the composite plastic pads.

I also ordered a special cable assembly with all of the necessary wires (11 of them, IIRC) for connecting the generator, as well as cold-weather kits for the generator, which include oil filter and engine heating pads. I'll have the propane supplier make the fuel connection. As with so many appliances today, it has the usual range of Wi-Fi features.

Called in to my favourite local tool shop this morning and these bits followed me out:



The lid has some beautiful fine engraving on it and if anyone has any suggestions as to how to fill it in I am all ears:



I am going to use it to store my thread wires in so if anyone has a use for the needles, drop me a line.



Then this a small dapping block, or something similar, but in Bronze, naturally I will go overboard and clean it up with some glass bead:






It is small, about two inches square (I just know I am going to regret this comment).

Ordered a PCP compressor, quickly realising that I would need a suited PSU etc I cancelled the purchase and was refunded pretty quickly.
Ordered a much nicer one with PSU etc included.

One on the left arrived, was going to have a froth at the seller, then the one on the right arrived (the right one)

I will be returning the one on the left to the original seller (a warehouse) or going to confession - given I'm secular, will be choosing the latter
