A 6" bench grinder,

Someone liked to use all the wheel!


Stripped down for a repaint and check out - less than 0.002mm spindle runout and the first grinder I've owned which has alterable balance weights for the wheels.

I fancy one of those.... but idont think they've been in-store here in Wales recently. Hopefully they will do.
(My folks place has a very big Ash that the council have said has to be felled. I'd not consider dropping it myself - I've approached someone to do that... but the house has a woodburner, so it strikes me that its better to get it felled, then cut it up and dry-store it for splitting at a later date - cheaper plus we'd get a lot of hardwood firewood!).

One of these seems like it'd be a pretty good thing for that job and just to have around for the odd job at that sort of money.

Is the ash a clean fell with big drop zone or need climbing? Send me some pics if you want.

Also split whilst its fresh, 10x the effort when its dried out.

Yes, it's in the roadside hedge between the road & the field on the property's land - so it can be dropped into loads of open field space.

Further to me reporting I’d acquired a mini grinder,for the sake of an eccentrically machined nut,they sent me a complete replacement grinder! This one’s concentric,it’s ok,but I’m sure will need careful use and regular cool downs. At 280w it’s powerful for its size.View attachment 494717

I was sadly disapointed in mine I had great hopes for it, but it seems less powerful than my dremel with a 175w motor. I was doing a clutch replacement on a family members ford mondeo & the sub frame nut ended up endlessly spinning. So I cut open the corner to weld the tab back down & wanted to use this, instead of the expensive 38mm dremel discs wich you can go through surprisingly quick.Now need to find something similar either electric or battery.

I've had one of those 2 or 3 years now.
It's not used lot, but it's handy.
The small die grinder bits feature has been very useful in tight spots (not much power& a small diameter bit means a lot less snag & kickback in a tight spot) & sometimes you just need a smaller disc & tool body.
I'd get another if it died.

Tiny circlip pliers, new welding gloves, new oxygen and acetylene hoses after I found a delamination in my Acetylene hose, and Nitrile gloves.

But not just any Nitrile gloves, Honeywell KCL Dermatril.

I appreciate it's very nerdy to have strong opinions on disposable gloves, but these are the ones Booths (Harrods if you're southern) would sell if they branched out into industrial supplies.

Double thickness, Super tear resistant, Long cuff design, Really long chemical breakthrough times... Only rub is they're usually £30 a box so I don't buy them, but Cromwell had my size only on clearance at £6 a box!

It really helped...I had the classic adhesive capsule...I suspect the vibration must help to loosen things up.

Anyone who has had frozen shoulder will know it's relentless pain for bloomin months.

I have no idea what to do with that much duck other than the immediate concern of freezing it before it goes off.

Is that the PRV v6 motored one? they fetch strong money and its a good motor. There's 3 restored ones for sale on the most popular small ad's over here and 2 complete project cars, but still rare even in France.

It's the 2.2 4 cylinder injection one, decent engines also from what I've heard!
Yeah I noticed theres many more for sale on the continent but still not many. The goal is to take it to france for a road trip once restored
That being said I don't think it even needs restoring? Sills are all very solid as is the underneath. Might just need the paint and a pillar sorting out then jobs a gudden

Today I acquired yet another project, a wind turbine
It needs new blades as they are delaminating to the point of being dangerous but the generator part and brake is good and its 3 phase and we think well in excess of 1Kw. It has two 7m tall masts, making it about 8.5m high when stood on the floor plate on one of them which means no planning permission & 150 quid for everything.
The funny backstory is its very close to my other house, that we outgrew and got the place we're in now & right before moving on we saw the people move in and put this up about 15 years ago and they had a really funky old bus as a cabin on a lake next door, and they've lived off grid using it and a diy solar install ever since. They used to pass my vw camper that was parked at that house still and noticed it disappeared last year and thought someone had stolen it.

I'm going to hook it up to a grid tie inverter and fit some new blades and give the generator side a fettle & paint it then put it it up after I've poured suitable footings for the base & guy anchors.
Pity (or good job) the bus wasnt up for sale, or I'd have been finding a way to get it moved somehow too
