Adjusted the chinese 20" bar... New oil hole and enlarged the slot from 8.2 to 9.2mm.

The cheap .325" 76DL chain, I have lengthed and riveted to make 78DL. Now I noticed I'd have an odd number of cutters, does it matter if I have two sequential lefts or rights? I was thinking I should cut it off and have a skip.

Spot the mistake I thought, ah I could cut the backwards cutter off, then noticed the drive links also a problem.. To save time I started again and got it correct way around and didnt cut off the double cutter.

Rivet punch worked ok but couldnt get it as flat as standard ones.

Lastly I discovered why cheap .325 bars shouldnt be used with a g372xp! The bar is slightly narrower at the mount which means the chain can rub or jam on the casing and the shim plate. Well too much effort spent to abandon. I lightly filed the case edges to a slight chamfer and cut off the offending protrusion of the shim plate. Not ideal but it now moves freely and dont think it will cause any notable problems.

I modified a garden auger. I melted the pieces of the broken drill onto a new piece of spiral and added a piece of a 12-diameter drill to the tip of the auger. Otherwise, this Chinese contraption did not want to sink into the clay at a depth of 10 cm.

Made this little viking inspired barb lock to secure my tools at work while im on a weeks holiday. I got back from my last break to find my gear strewn to the four winds. So half an hours work and i knocked this up. Thats enough to keep the I tealeaves oot!

Been sorting out my climbing stuff and adressing little niggles, like the adjustment straps on my harness flapping loose, as they wont reach the original retainer for fat people!

Then, having spliced some prusik cord eyes a while back I thought I should do the lock stiches, so I can use them. Followed the Samson guide for that as it seems the most sensible way to do it.

My friend on the roof of my building, touching up a rust spot with cold galvanizing spray, just too high to reach, and we didn't want to haul a ladder up there, and risk it sliding. Rope attached to the hinge, spray can hose clamped into the angle piece, pull rope to depress spray can button.
Easy Peasy.

went back today and snapped some pix to clarify a bit.
I'm keeping this around, i think it will come in handy for other uses like hornet nest spray etc.

Today I made a tool for removing the sump plugs from Fiat and Alfa diesel engines.

There is restricted access because of the subframe and the few I work on are often butchered by the time I see them.

I couldn't crack it with my longest 13mm spanner.

And I couldn't get a breaker bar to fit.

So I welded a socket to a broken breaker bar.

And that did the trick

I was going to weld the end of an extension bar to the breaker, so I could use different sockets, but I reckoned the retaining ball would be toast and I haven't needed anything in another size before so kept it simple.

Made by my mum not me, but too cool not to show off. A couple of crocheted snakes, filled with activated carbon, zeolite and essential oils, to take the stank out of my climbing shoes.



DIY rip off of Boot Bananas, snakes are obviously much better than bananas.

Didn't have any work lined up today and was half thinking about not going in but decided I better.
Then a guy came in and wanted a bracket made for a satellite dish.

Then a fisherman wanted a set of plates skimmed.

And then another fisherman wanted me to do a conversion to his roller system, most of the stuff won't be here until Thursday but I did have enough 10mm Alu and some 100mm dia nylon so I could make the guide roller up in preparation for the rest of the stuff arriving.
