Cherry picker device addition

Knocked this manifold up today for our roof cleaning side of operations..Its a right pain to take the lance and hose up almost 45FT and clamp it to the basket while roof cleaning, now i have made this with a ball valve also to reduce flow when needed and fitted a gauge too. Connect ground hose to block and lift, i just need 2 meters of hose now to my lance in the basket, far more managable.

The hose will be coming up the back of basket and looping through 2 holes on the outer rear lip of basket and down onto the male fitting. hose to lance with no weight will connect to female outlet.

Any reason why you've not plumbed in a line all the way up the boom?

When I get the 6x6 running and the cherry picker mounted on it I was planning on running an airline, pressure washer line and small armoured cable up the boom to the basket. That way I can have air for spray limewashing the house, mains (just a 13A socket) for any cordless tools and also the hose for water / pressure washer if needed.

Slightly longer boom I think at 16.5m (about 54ft) but it doesn't extend so running hoses etc., should be fairly simple.

Yes there must be another man on the ground just to tend to the picker in case of emergency, in any case we are a three man team

I already have a Versalift OEM power cable running within the boom, my boom extends by 4 meters and i did not want the worry or logistics of having a 4 meters loop when not extended, plus there is no real advantage to it.

It's not going be under the full pressure if the hose snaps, so the damage may be minimal.

Thats right Fred, plus i am confident i could actually tow the Van with the hose i use so snapping it wont be doing any time soon.

Yea i hear you and know what you mean regarding getting dragged...fully trained and have the ticket for pickers as do my lads, welfare always comes 1st in this camp. Thanks for your comments

The ball valve will be only useful as a shutoff, no use to control flow. You can only control flow with the bypass valve on the pump. Trying to use the ball valve will likely overload the pump motor & pump.

Assuming its an engine drive the easiest way to reduce flow is to get the ground man to reduce the engine rev.

I must of been getting reduced flow from my hammer on my belt then for the last 3 years I know how they work bud as i also build them. Ball valve is the less of many ways but it does a fine job of reducing flow without shouting instructions 30 ft below over a 13hp pressure washer. pump cant get overloaded as i have my unloader running total loss back into the water tank

Running the unloader back to tank is pretty much normal, have never seen one that just dead ends on the relief.
Even if the quick coupler came off, the unloader will save the day.
