Its getting to that time of year when the gutters keep filling with moss/leaves so a regular clear out is needed, my ladder stand off has never been brilliant as I felt the hooks were too close together which gives a bit of a wobble when your up top which was ok 30yrs ago but not now! got some ally flat from hotponyshoes to move the hooks right to the sides of the ladder which makes it loads more stable

We were given this for free when we moved into new units at work.

Filled it up with 25l diesel (half full) today and fired it up, for about 2 minutes lol!.

Spent an hour messing about cleaning and checking stuff before finally finding the "photoelectric sensor", covered in soot, removed and cleaned and it works a treat now!.

Apparently these are £1500, gave it a good clean afterwards and it's come up like brand new.

Happy days!.

Friend turned on his central heating boiler. It made a fizzing sound from the control panel and smelled.... Techi said ' New printed circuits and edge connectors' Well that's a grand! So, I pulled them, found the one with the ICs all over it just needed a clean, but the smaller one had burned along one edge. Prob from a bit of water ingress. Cut out the cremated section and soldered fly leads further along the printed bits. Fitted it and Bingo, it worked.
Friend delighted.

I made a machine/jig for a hell of a job to sand deep and even grooves.

A cross vice handles the X and Y coordinates; for the Z coordinate, I will sequentially place plates under the clamp with the part.

As we increase the height of the floor with the part, we cut deeper.

Anything you can think of to avoid buying a milling machine, oh yes.

No it's smell free. We had a different diesel heater a long while back and it did stink but this one burns really clean.

I was surprised they cost £1500 but to be fair it's a great bit of kit.

Take an idea if necessary. A friend gave me a terrible quality cross vice; they came with a drilling machine from Lidl and the like. The built-in wedge adjustments for the skids simply did not work and did not select any play. A little scraping, a file, 1 new wedge and a coating of molybdenum spray from MOLYKOTE, and this vise worked as it should and does not wobble. I wanted to throw them away, but they came in handy.

PS - Using this device, I need to cut slots 5 mm wide and 7 mm deep in a steel washer with a diameter of 62 mm. Like the cross on a giant Phillips screw. With repeatability and accuracy, preferably no worse than 0.2 mm

Nothing to do with welding, but fixed that white box that my wife puts the dirty washing in! It’s a 20 year old Miele, when it went over to spin it threatened to take off, leaped about all over the place. Looking on the web, looked like the dampers had gone (didn’t know they had them) £23 spent an an hours work & hopefully get another 20 years out of it. I shall be 94 by then, & doubt if I shall care about washing!

i painted a bit of my spare parts pile...

just gotta bend the car a bit straighter and fit them now...

that was far more work than expected. now to just weld all the spot-welds back up that broke in the crash...

Bush fix to the freelander intercooler to throttle body hose. Its confirmed that it was the massive split causing “reduced engine performance”

Are you going to paint the bonnet to match?
Nice save though, for lesser mortals it would have been over the bridge

the downside of buying by the paint code and not having it matched. however i couldn't care less for a track car.

and there is no way id scrap that car. would cost me £25k to build another...
