I have just got his old toolbox too. I've been dipping into it since he died when doing bits and pieces to the house or grabbing bits that hold memories. An "old" "8kw* chinese diesel heater for free because it stopped working after 5 minutes and the guy gave up after hours upon hours of diognosing an electrical problem.

I spent all of 2 minutes diognosing the fault... Turns out they run a lot better when you don't heat seal the fuel pipe shut on the exhaust?

The plan for this one is just to heat the workshop but I was planning on buying a couple anyway for some experimentation for the house, we use so little heating that by my calculations it would be cheaper for us to run on heating oil than natural gas. The standing charge we currently pay on the gas would almost cover the price of the heating oil we would use. And already got a spare barely used stainless steel cylinder kicking around to replace the combi boiler with. Some heat exchanger experimentation is in my future.

This hudge three phase rectifier bridge .
Now I have to figure out how many amps and voltage it can manage.
How to connect it to my single phase arc welder
The diodes are all the same

Hopefully someone here can recognise them and say me what to search to understand more about them
It belongs from an unknown big enough mig welder

Diodes should be
D161/250
250A 1000V
So the welder which belong from should had around 400A
Considering that my welder delivers 210A (what's written on the plate) I believe that it would be enough overkill to reliable.
I still have to find the right thermal protection switch for it ....
I'm almost thinking to use smaller ones on the various critical components and a contactor

New big angry grinder. I didn't want to buy new but after visiting so many used ones that were knackered, despite the sellers claims, I gave up and bought new. After starting the search sensibly, I needed a 9 inch grinder, I then started adding extras to the tick list of requirements including rotating rear handle and anti vibes and ended up with this.

You won't be disappointed, I'm very much a metabo convert on the grinder front. I've 3 now. Vari speed one for mops, 1100w 5" and a 180mm one which weighs about the same as a 5" but nearly the power of a 9"
