In Scandinavia the cars are well treated with rustproofing products.Yes, I suspect you are right. This is the first time I've ever seen this effect and the first person I discussed it with was 100% sure it was was a broken ABS ring, but I think it is more likely to be "crud". What I've just found out in the last hour is that the ABS sensor head is all-plastic; the 10mm screw "tightens" down on a plastic flange and I very much suspect that the body that inserts in to the hub is also plastic. This would go along way to explaining the Youtube vid!
No they are a game changer in circumstances like the OP,s....I have a SF and use it all the time.Is this the sort of situation where an induction heater would work? I’ve often seen them advertised but have heard they don’t work well, and are expensive?
I have something similar - it has never ever worked once!
Pray tell more - what's an SF ?No they are a game changer in circumstances like the OP,s....I have a SF and use it all the time.
what's an SF ?
Sorry i meant SP (Sykes Pickavant)Pray tell more - what's an SF ?
Thank goodness- I was thinking it may need Special Forces hard nut rather than some hardware
Silly xxxxers ?Pray tell more - what's an SF ?
Why’s that? The sensor itself is likely plastic so won’t heat directly. Or is it the transfer of heat you’d be worried about? Not very appropriate for around a sensor? Might be OK for heating the set screw when just minus its head.
I wrote ‘around a sensor’. Did you miss that? Plastic and 5-600 Celsius do not mix well. Why’s that? The sensor itself is likely plastic so won’t heat directly. Or is it the transfer of heat you’d be worried about?
Or something else?

No - I didn't miss it.?I wrote ‘around a sensor’. Did you miss that?
Most sensors are held by a fixing to the side, if using a smaller induction coil you can get the heat really localised. Mine is used mostly for motorcycle repairs where naked flame is far too damaging to surrounding parts. Not very appropriate for around a sensor? Might be OK for heating the set screw when just minus its head.
