A lifetime is a long time to be fixing something..
I hear you (i know, its a joke, but first off, buy a lathe (£3.5K including DRO) then buy some tooling (another £2k) then you need a rotary broach and a selection of carbide Hex Broaches (no idea, but not cheap) then you need a bit of material, (about 6pence) and off you go, assuming you actually know what you are doing AND you have a half decent micrometre. I am sure you know what I mean. :-)

Got this camera for the laser.
Got it set up and dialled in.
It allows me to put a part in the laser.
I can then open a file I want to laser.
Rotate and place where I want it to be.
Press the start and etch it.

It is going to be very handy, no messing with aligning parts for etching, just throw in the laser, open the image I want to etch, esize,rote, place and job done

Another great feature is I can put something into the laser, I just used a top clamp I made so I can check the quality but basically any physical opbject could be used.
I then opened the Trace option and it traced the part.
Delete the parts I don't want then export as a dxf or if wishing just use as is and etch/cut in the laser.
Because I wanted to check dimensions against the real thing I opened the Top clamp model in fusion.
Opened the dxf in fusion.
Overlayed the dxf over the model.
Spot on and this is going to be extremely handy for me, for example last week I had to make some packers that were a bit of a weird shape and I had to measure, draw, print out and compare, adjust in fusion and repeat until it came out right. All I need to do now is put it in the laser "scan" it then trace and export as dxf

Use copper to cut plastic coating on stainless, doesn't scratch the stainless.
