Ah, thought it might be a price thing. They seem quite cheap for what you get. Many are or were classed as Commercial so you could claim your VAT back.

Were cheap. A Nissan Navara D22 was 15k plus VAT in 2001. How much is one NOWAh, thought it might be a price thing. They seem quite cheap for what you get.
Not keen on the push button start. One thing I miss is the switch position just for the radio/headunit. Pushbutton everything comes on.I love these threads
My wife has a Kuga and loves it. Good enough mpg and starts, stops just as it should.
I have an LR 90 from 1987 and that is waiting for me to find an auto box so I can drive it again.
My 06 Mitsubishi Shogun is huge, does around 30mpg and I love it3.2l dirty diesel with an auto box that is smooth as silk.
It pulls and sits at legal speeds just nicely.
I would like an EV but cannot afford one. It would make the short journeys to the city very nice indeed![]()
Ive had series land rovers and classic range rovers and loved them but they all needed constant attention and a knowledge of vehicles essential. My 1997 Hilux has 210,000 miles on it and not failed an MOT in ten years has anyone got a Landy with over 200K? I didnt like it when I got it then i worked it out .. it was easy to drive and started every timeNot really a car person...machinery is more of interest. But rural living dictates having something to tow with. But the Kuga won't pull my digger trailer. So it's been sat there since Nissan Pickup died.
Considering a Hilux.
Those 90s Hiluxes were bombproof. Not sure about the newer ones.My 1997 Hilux has 210,000 miles on it
My 300tdi had 250k on it and ran like a top until I got a bit happy with the fuelling and melted the head. Still managed an 800 mile round trip on 3 cylinders thoughIve had series land rovers and classic range rovers and loved them but they all needed constant attention and a knowledge of vehicles essential. Dont get me wrong i had a few classic range rovers and wish id kept my 2 door still have my 4 door i converrted to v8 diesel now its 10" shorter and a lot better off road ! Box section chassis are a stupid idea anyway just rust and water traps my Chevy pickup has a C section chassis like nearly all trucks they tend not to rot out.My 2004 Disco 3 has covered more miles in greater comfort for the driver and passengers. Speaking with a friend on the ferry with a slightly newer Landcruiser and he was bemoaning the cost and lack of availability of a replacement gearbox and transfer box, a workmate is busy rebuilding a completely rotted out Hilux chassis which if it was a Land Rover would have been condemned and replaced instantly but again who is making them? The starting and driving every time comment also raised a smile, the closest Landcruiser to me currently starts when it wants which may or may not be when the owner is asking it to! Moral of the story is the all vehicles need maintenance.
It sure will in Newcastle as it covers the Tyne Bridge the main through route. I was planning a trip to town, both buisness I was planning to visit are small owner drivers so to speak. Id have spent roughly 1k between them, possibly more, I checked and my landy is a polluter , so 12.50 to enter. So Im no longer going….wonder how long little buisness will last now the lunatics are running the asylum. Shops close, rate revenue drops, council skint so put others rates up till they close too! That £12.50 will catch out a lot more people soon if it doesn't get stopped!![]()
So do you pass the cost on to the customer, you have to really. Could price you out of the work. Madness!London is pushing the Lez zone out as far as the M25 in August, it’s our stomping ground so that’s going to sting a bit, one of the trucks will cost £300 a day

Yes, got a 90 with 300k on it and sold my disco commercial with 350k on it, both with the original 300tdi engines. The 90 has had a transfer box and I have rebuilt one of the r380 gearboxes, fitted a second-hand unit in another. None of the LR`s I have had have been any worse than the jap trucks we run, they are also a lot cheaper and easier to find parts for.

I was a stupid question really theres always going to be examples with stupid miles my old man bought a puegoet 309 with 350k on it and the car with the most mileage was a volvo p1800s with 3 million on the clock and the original engine! I wouldnt buy a newer pickup than the hilux I have as too many computers electronics etc on newer stuff .Yes, got a 90 with 300k on it and sold my disco commercial with 350k on it, both with the original 300tdi engines. Vehicle Excise Duty (road tax) is cheaper on a commercial vehicle such as pick-up than the SUV version ie Nissan Navara £225pa for all versions whereas the Pathfinder is up to £630pa depending on engine & spec. This may sound like a rant, but it isn’t. Something I don’t understand, is why pickups are so popular.
With an open back, your stuff is at risk of getting wet, falling out or being stolen. Shutter-type covers restrict your load space severely, and a pod turns it into a makeshift version of the large SUV you could have bought purpose-made.
It’s occasionally handy to be able to drop a large load, eg silage bale, straight into the back, but this seems a rare advantage.
Late father-in-law had a Volvo 144E that broke a piston at around 500,000 miles - but it kept on running on the other three ! We rebuilt the engine and it then did another couple of hundred thousands before being replaced. BTW It's either a Volvo P1800 or 1800S - there was never a P1800SI was a stupid question really theres always going to be examples with stupid miles my old man bought a puegoet 309 with 350k on it and the car with the most mileage was a volvo p1800s with 3 million on the clock and the original engine!
