Landrover evoque 2013 ?

He's going for a Landrover. No idea of model. So that's that. Not my recommendation. But again not my car.

A marmite thing Landrovers, you either love them or hate them…..but it gives folks something to argue about!

As an aside, last week my pickup went in for its usual over priced dealer service, they are now a ssang yong dealer too….They gave me a courtesy car was quite impressed by the quality of the build and how it drove a Korando, not anywhere near as tinny as I was expecting.

A landrover defender does 60 effortlessly. Take the limiter of a 44arctic and it will do 60 effortlessly. Doesn't mean it will do it as efficiently as possible.

I'm sorry that you want to pretend it is anything other than a fashion statement. I'm not criticizing. If you want to buy a car to keep up with Joneses that is fine. I just know my 10 yr old Lancia was more reliable than the three new Discoverys my boss had back in the mid 90s through to mid 00s

My wife has a Kuga and loves it. Good enough mpg and starts, stops just as it should.
I have an LR 90 from 1987 and that is waiting for me to find an auto box so I can drive it again.
My 06 Mitsubishi Shogun is huge, does around 30mpg and I love it 3.2l dirty diesel with an auto box that is smooth as silk.
It pulls and sits at legal speeds just nicely.
I would like an EV but cannot afford one. It would make the short journeys to the city very nice indeed

Why not fit an auto clutch conversion ? I've got an unused set I bought for my old Series IIA but never got around to fitting (it's now going on my UMM Transcat). Basically a servo operated master cylinder that is fitted in line between the vehicles master and slave that is controlled by an ECU that take inputs from clutch, brake, speedo drive, etc. Replacement gear knob with on off switch so you choose whether you want the auto clutch function to work or just drive normally.

London is pushing the Lez zone out as far as the M25 in August, it’s our stomping ground so that’s going to sting a bit, one of the trucks will cost £300 a day

My closest one is Lincoln and it is quite a nice place really. I don't like huge cities but we do things differently up here

Not really a car person...machinery is more of interest. But rural living dictates having something to tow with. But the Kuga won't pull my digger trailer. So it's been sat there since Nissan Pickup died.

It’s occasionally handy to be able to drop a large load, eg silage bale, straight into the back, but this seems a rare advantage.

Many are or were classed as Commercial so you could claim your VAT back.
