The new ones definitely won't last as long as that! Made of cheese.Bit disappointed with the quality of MK sockets, it's only lasted about 40 yearshad to change one in the kitchen this morning which is a bit annoying as it was due to be replaced in a couple of weeks during the kitchen refurb.

Always used to get McEwans export on the train when it was British Rail. The long journeys flew by, especially since the buffet car didn't have to shut at two, unlike all the pubs!

Mate of mine who works with me at the repair café, was issued one of them as part of his apprenticeship at The gas board. He's still got it, it still works and he knows how to use it.

Mine was a 300sel,very early one from Japan.
I blew up the engine, didn't have the space to sort it at the time unfortunately.
Following my nearly disastrous fire in my foundry I've been sorting out the damage and making a few repairs.
The fire door cleaned up well apart from one corner where about a square foot of paint was burnt off - it got re-painted to stop rust - it's not pretty but adequate for the application:
The burn out kiln lost one of it's castors - the replacements arrived today and got fitted - I changed all four so that it is even)
A few days ago the unused Acco floor drain channel that did so much to spread the fire, was filled in with cement and today it got tickled with a roller of rather ancient floor paint

Today I fixed a diesel engine injection system.
It was fine before my new colleague, changed the diesel filter, then tried to bleed it up. As he cracked the fourth injector, the injector span round breaking the return ramp. Oh dear.
So I initially assumed my colleague was being cack handed, but when I inspected it someone had really over tightened it, it seemed, causing the problem.
Stripped the return ramp of a dead engine, was inspecting and cleaning up the repair engine, when it became clear, three out of four of the injectors were literally hand tight in the head, it's been running fine for the last 3 years !
Long story short, someone rebuilt the engine in 2019, and we guess they forgot to tighten the injectors properly. (Not us).
All running fine by four this afternoon.

Seems Chinese are not much cop at making exhaust valves either, literally lost count of how many I've replaced now..
Ducati decided to bolt the starter motors from the inside out, 15 minute job on Japanese machines is a bit more involved on the Italian bikes..
