Oh yes, definitely Indian. Our welding lecturer in college smoked roll ups made with baccy called Hippo. Never seen it before or since. It was black and would stun a horse. I swear it was supposed to be pipe tobacco!Tried " bidies " once ciggy rolled in a leaf 11/2" long. Indian I think tasted like 3rd hand Cow S***.

How did you get away without paying? One vivid memory, my dad sent me to buy a gallon of petrol, local garage was a distance…Thornaby Road…..we lived on Havilland Road…
Anyway, he gave me a ten bob note and a gallon can….
Set off walking, got to the garage, filled up can, then to my horror discovered I’d lost the ten bob note en route…..OMG……
Fortunately he forgave me….
Tried a pipe for a year or two used a mixture of Balkan Sobranie and Empire Latakia. I could be mistaken but it was 60 years ago. Still got the pipes one of which is a Manx Meerschaum.Odd.
I worked at a local TV & radio station in the mid 1980's and allot of the staff smoked pipe.
Butterscotch seemed to be the tobacco of choice (they all chipped in and made a bulk buy).
It never made me cough, and wasn't un-pleasant in any way (me being a non smoker),
no watering eyes, nothing.
My favorite uncle smoked a corncob pipe filled with "Half and Half", and I see they used to
sell it as cigarettes as well.
However, today's cigarettes are terrible, and I can't stand being around any of it.
Maybe the "recipe" has changed ?

I worked with a guy a few years ago that smoked those short cigars "Swisher Sweets" or some such perfumed up stuff.Old boy I had working for me years ago smoked Boars Head rolling tobacco, seem to remember it smelt like a burning compost heap!

Swisher sweets were soaked in molasses, or at least the ones I used to get were.I worked with a guy a few years ago that smoked those short cigars "Swisher Sweets" or some such perfumed up stuff.
Supposedly strawberryflavored, they smelled terrible.
Sort of a fruity burning roofing tar smell....
I asked him one day if he was smoking a "Fruit Rollup" and did he forget to remove the wrapper ?...
