But better than all of those (which are wonderful) was seeing my 86 year old mum still healthy and happy, and my 14 year old lab enjoying a nice walk followed by a turkey dinner with the other dogs.

Usual stuff…..socks, 3 different kinds. Mrs got me a new Musto Jacket as the current one is beyond wearing off the pitch, but its done well according to my daughter its 21 years old as she was with me when I bought her one too.

An old man hat, Ill never wear, and a box of sweets.

Best of all there wasn’t the usual bickering and arguing!

I normally throw a lump of my hard earned at SWMBO and she deals with the Christmas present buying. I know you don't give to receive but what I get back out of the whole Christmas circus thing is pi55 poor, this year its the obligatory socks that dont fit and a couple of jumpers I will never wear. Anyway this year she kicked off and demanded I get her a present so I set off at last minute dot com to join all the other male lost/bewildered soles aimlessly wandering around the stores, filled a box with a load of bits and nearly got it wrapped up (paper was short), couldn't find a label so put her initials on the box with line marker paint.

Best Christmas ever so far since I've not been a child.

No presents, it's only taken the better part of 35 years for this to be understood and accepted, and me being alone in the house excepting a cat I'm looking after.

As to that drinking mug up there, I've long thought patches for the backs of overalls with 'Parental advisory: May contain strong language.' would be a good seller. There's probably tee shirts already.

I read a PDF copy of Brian Shul's book "Sled Driver", a fascinating story of the Lockheed Blackbird SR-71and his life as a pilot in it. Highly recommended, although copies are now hundreds of pounds to buy.
Can't recall now where I found the download but it was free.

My lad found me the PDF of this, thanks for the recommendation.

Try getting one that has a birthday a day before - I absolutely dread it. But this year she had diamonds, slippers, a mug and a tkmax gift voucher. Happy Swmbo is worth everything...
