Good idea. I've been considering getting one of those gadgets (for tiling, of course
). I do some tile work from time to time (currently installing 6" x 12" natural marble tiles in a shower enclosure), and as I get older and perhaps (marginally) wiser, I'm starting to think more about how to avoid repetitive stress injuries. Bedding a lot of large tiles by hand makes my wrists tired, and some tiles (such as some types of fragile stone) don't like to be struck with rubber mallets, and they let you know by revealing where their fracture lines were hidden.

Ignore the odd grouting technique.
White tiles. White grout. Cut edges and a very thin glaze. Trying to minimise the tile edges poking through. Pita

The marble tiles I'm installing are also a bit of a PITA, with sharp edges (no bevel) and somewhat varying thicknesses. I bought a set of tile leveling clips, which are helping me get the surface flat despite the thickness variations. I'm also using some tile spacers in combination with the leveling clips. There are also some slight variations in tile dimensions, so I have been trimming, mixing, and matching tiles to get the grout joints to line up. I think it will turn out nicely, however, although it will probably be a couple of weeks before I can finish the shower, since I've been diverted to getting the new upstairs baseboard heaters installed, as winter has finally arrived here. Here's a photo of the work in progress:

I know that struggle. Thankfully the quartz I'm laying today are cut to size and are bang on. Also no sign of any bowing.
Gonna be piling the extras on to this invoice. I've used 10 bags of adhisive. (half) and only done half the hall let alone the utility and cloakroom.
Why. **** poor prep by other contractors. became apparent yesterday when the fracture matting was going down.
No notched trowel today. Thick bed. 4 trowel lines through the grout and clean off the spacer lines and vibrate the bugger down.
The tool was a life saver today. No way would o have got them down as well without it.

A couple of NOS gasket sets for my stationary engines. You can get new sets for some of the more popular engines, but the chances of them fitting seems very hit & miss

Ye gods, I recall going into engine recon stockists and floor to ceiling would be gasket sets of every type and size.A couple of NOS gasket sets for my stationary engines. You can get new sets for some of the more popular engines, but the chances of them fitting seems very hit & miss

Several times I'd throw them a question about a weird piston and they'd have one - more importantly, whenever I thought about boring something out they'd tell me what would fit.

It's possible I spoke too soon. I've got no idea how to fix it.My friend bought a new coffee grinder, which stopped working after a week and was replaced under warranty, but they didn't ask for the old one back...

It was an absolute sod to dismantle, and inside everything looks fine. No loose wires, no blown fuses, no burnt components. The motor is 240vdc, fed with the rectified output from a triac. On the back side of the board there's a microcontroller which presumably just runs a timer (The knob sets the run time up to 30 seconds to approximately control how much coffee is ground).

I have now (Post in the Stuff you've made today thread), the motor works fine, it must be the control board that's dead. There's a couple of relays I'll desolder and test, but I think I'm just gonna make a new controller and get rid of the useless timer.
