Local auction this week was full of Xmas tat but scattered among the 1400 lots I picked up a few gems.

3 ton quick lift jack, warranty return sticker on the box. Built it up & the only problem was the bolt to stop the handle falling out was missing! So I now have a new jack for £67!

Scotchpad abrasive mops mounted on 1/8" shafts, bag full for £2.50.

Set of Bosch cobalt drills, 8mm broken, rest unused. £2.50.

Makita LXT mini grass/hedge trimmer, as new, just missing the cam drive (£6), bought for £12.

Bargain of the day, a 300mm Starrett combination square, as new, £2.50!
It was wrapped up in a plastic bag but I spotted the Starrett name on it, fortunately nobody else did!

It's going into my special tools drawer along with my 12" square so that it doesn't get normal daily abuse.

Ye gods, I recall going into engine recon stockists and floor to ceiling would be gasket sets of every type and size.
Several times I'd throw them a question about a weird piston and they'd have one - more importantly, whenever I thought about boring something out they'd tell me what would fit.

A couple of NOS gasket sets for my stationary engines. You can get new sets for some of the more popular engines, but the chances of them fitting seems very hit & miss

I am the same with old motorcycle gasket sets, always pick them up if cheap.

I feel your pain. Tiling, skirtings, flooring you name it. my knees and feet are shot.

I am certain my back problems are a result of laying hardwood strip flooring. I laid a LOT, for a couple of years. Back in the day the floor nailer was positioned on the strip and you hit it with a heavy mallet, I was usually on piecework too so ignored all the pain and got on with it. The arrogance of youth eh!

The site canteen had tripped out on overload, I got the power back on and the lady said thanks it's on me
She actually calculated the current draw on her hot plates etc before I knew what she was doing!
Her dad is an electrician! I was very impressed!
I've recommended a new circuit is installed to take the load off the rest of the site eating area ring.

Love it I had a 180 degree experience .
I did the loading & cable calculations for an Italian pizza kitchen , added 120% extra to allow for extra kit in the future. They'd supplied me with the data sheets for everything they were having fitted , a few months after commissioning I get called out everything is tripping the breakers . They'd only got someone else in and changed almost every bit of kit for bigger more power hungry stuff without up rating the incoming three phase.

Ooh they are very nice to use! My brother has the same as you, I have its smaller sibling, the hand axe. They are incredibly sharp and hold an edge lovely!
