A relic from the past....
Not sure why they fell out of fashion as I still find them very handy.
This replaces the cheapy Titan and knackered B&D I have been using.
Got some heft to it!
New Old Stock, I prefer this design to the newer ones - I guess it dates from around early 2000's.

I think there are only a few big names still making them, Makita, HiKoki, Bosch, Triton. Quite a few still available at the cheaper end of the market.
I think everybody moved over to using ROS, but I think a belt sander still has a place - bloody handy when you need to take a couple of mm off something gnarly you don't want to put your planer anywhere near!

Its a bit odd actually, same basic machine as a 4" and same platen, so you can fit a 4" belt.
However, rollers are 3" and it is sold as a 3", but you can track the belt over to sand up to an edge. So. err Both possibly, is the answer.
The Makita 9924 was the same - I suppose they must have had a reason.

today I acquired a nice
split leather chisel roll , having spent a few hours at the weekend sharpening chisels and plane irons ( for a while now they've been chucked in the tool box with everything else and no caps ) I'm going back old school , can't remember how many years it's been since I had a chisel roll .

Honestly, this place is inhabited by a bunch of enablers. No sooner do you get your buying impulses under control and limit them to just a pack of drills a week, then something like this comes and along and I must have one.

Used to work with a bloke like that. Treated those chisels like they were his own kids, probably better, and once the tool roll came out you knew he was serious.
Didn't used to bother me at all that he talked to them. Not really.
One bloke who 'borrowed' one at lunchtime without asking, and put it back damaged, disappeared mysteriously. None of us asked where he'd gone.

not used the evoluton one... I've got an hatachi one and it's awesome - everyone underestimates electric stone cutters!
but.... hatachi borke :-( bought an evoluton one too replace it just not used it yet.... let me know what it's like :-)
