At 1.55mm wide, this is the narrowest parting blade I have, so I expect the best results.

This very, very small spline key set. I actually thought they were allen keys. Obviously I don't have anything to undo with them. Should have probably put something alongside for scale, I'd say the little pack is about an inch wide. Came from the "just take it, everything free" stall at the car boot this morning.

The same stall also gave me a power consumption meter, one of those that you plug into a socket and then plug the device you want to measure into it. I stuck some new batteries in and it seems to work. This is really handy as I'm interested to know what I'm spending when using various things, and I can't find the smart meter display anywhere.

I googled for the phrase "spline key" and found things like this

It does translate to our "Vielzahn" like "multi tooth" - close to but not identical with Torx --- is that it?

The spline keys in that wallet are known as Bristol keys. I had a set issued to me in 1970 to work on IBM "Selectric" ( golfball ) printers.

I don't think they are dovetailed, just six straight splines, without undercutting, like the splines on a car driveshaft or gearbox input shaft. I only know them on IBM office equipment, but apparently they were also used on cameras, and WW2 aircraft radio knobs.

At first glance they looked like very small allen keys, but there is definitely a shape to them. I'll try to get a better photo later.

Been on it since Thursday, on and off... it has so much glucose in it that it pushes up my blood sugar levels - I have Type 1 diabetes. Just back from dropping off a sample at the GP's after speaking to NHS 24 at 0800.

It all started when I replaced the large silicon flush seal valve in the cistern on Wednesday afternoon; the vomiting and diarrhoea started later that evening... despite it being on the 'clean' side I must've ingested something untoward!

Watch out for signs of an analeptic fit .. That was the diagnosis for me 12 years ago after taking them for three days . They & immodium are apparently well know triggers as that was the first question they asked me & my wife once they knew I'd had the squits for 3 days
