Because people are like that nowadays and do not have the intelligence to negotiate their position with the seller. They would much rather someone else (ebay in this case) do it for them.

Perhaps he doesn't want tar the seller with the postie's brush. It allows the seller to resolve it and protect there feedback score. I do the same if it's a courier issue.

Because ultimately it's the sellers responsibility to ensure any goods are delivered.

But I sent them.....he had a ticket to collect them from his local post office.
All documented.
My point was what more did he think will get done.
He has already said he still wants them and will pay postage to get them. Lol

I had a similar thing a number of years ago I wasn’t in and the item was sent special deliver so postie couldn’t leave it with anyone else. Fine, post office sent me a txt and an email stating clearly that the postie had put a card through the door so I could collect. Still not a problem I then drove the 10 miles to my workshop to get the card only to find they never put the card through the letter box or even got out of there van to leave the card. After spending ages on the phone trying to get an answer as to why they claimed to have put the card through the door but didn’t so I then couldn’t collect it the following day as I didn’t have a card. It turns out the postie was a temp and claimed the gate to the yard was closed even though there are two other companies there that are open 8-6. Eventually post office agreed to deliver early the following day but they couldn’t understand why I was complaining.

It doesn't matter who's fault it actually is that the seller never received the goods, it's still the sellers responsibility.

I'm sure if you never received an order, and never received any notification about a failed delivery attempt, you'd be complaining.

For what its worth, only if its a Buy It Now, or equivalent ie the price is posted in advance.

I got ripped off on eBay, which is how I found this out. I then went to selling everything via auction where the rules are different. Then eBay went buyer-biased so I stopped selling on there full stop.

My local postie excelled on Saturday, left a small parcel in a safe place - our Purple topped recycling bin (dry paper and cardboard), card through door.
We had been away since Wednesday and guess which bin is emptied early Monday morning ?

Purple one.

Luckily we had been to a localish steam rally so came home Sunday night, otherwise next door neighbour would have put the bin out.

Only downside to HP instant ink, is if I'm away don't always see the email, they sent on posting a new cartridge.
