Even just walking about the shops comparing the prices to what I remember little increases that they hid with clubcard prices now there is less of them and just normal higher prices

Peppers used to be 90p for 3 , now £1.25 so over 25% increase

The 'standing charge' is akin to a shop trying to levy a fee on everyone who walks past, after all they're providing the infrastructure and if you choose not to use it, well that's your choice....

Have they put the price of individual peppers up too? It would be nice if they'd incentivise not buying the ones pre-packaged in single use plastic. Of course a carrier bag tax is more profitable than anything sensible like that though.

Yea that would make sense , just price them by KG and have it the same cost no matter what you buy if its pre packed or picked.

Also I did notice a change in our tesco today the bags you get for loose fruit are now "reusable" so they charge you 30p for them. Still a plastic mesh bag not sure why they don't just go back to paper.

We plan meals very carefully to avoid waste, but the pack sizes don't always work for what we want

When I was living in Sheffield I always shopped at a greengrocer, some things were cheaper and some were more expensive so it evened out, but it was much more sustainable (No packaging and locally sourced where possible), there was much more variety and much better quality.

At the moment we shop at Tesco, which in my opinion has the worst quality produce of any supermarket, but unfortunately is in by far the best location for us. There's a market here too but it's way more expensive, and even more inconvenient than the other supermarkets.

I'm moving to Bucks in the next couple of months, hopefully wherever I end up has a decent town.

I go to MK market for green grocer when I can. Always cheap and plentiful

It looks like a flatshare is going to be at least twice what I was paying in Sheffield. I'd quite like to live on my own but that's of course even more expensive, assuming you can even find a place that's not secretly a flat share.

I have a similar problem but mine is not all to do with price.
I was taught to never leave food. So it becomes a habit. So I am eating more than I should. But in addition to that and the fact my portions are way too big I have never felt full.
I don't know what it means to feel full.

Trying to buy less so I don't cook too much is more expensive than buying in bulk.
