the majority of the patern ones are now made in India out of recycled pizza boxes and wear out with the pads.
when pads went asbesdos free, they were harder and gave the discs a hard time, when i started in the motor trade discs usually lasted forever....or untill the body rusted out and the car got scrapped

Pads I used to get 50,000 out of (oe stuff). Just changed the discs on my jagxf at 110,000 - they wern't that bad, and if I hadn't bought them with the pads I would have taken the lip off and refitted.

Pads and discs on out Skoda Fabia only see to last 2-3 years before they need replacing. Luckily they are cheap.

did 100 thousand miles on my combo van changed the front disks once and 2 lots of pads rear disks lasted on originals . go to the main stealers and they want to change the lot at 40 thousand and flush your brake pipes out

id do my own only if i had to like a leak on a cylinder if its not broke dont fix it
My old Skoda Superb did well over 100k on a set of EuroCarParts Eicher discs and pads. All depends on the driver and the type of usage. Mine was a motorway hack and I’m not hard on brakes anyway.
SWMBO, on the other hand, yeah she can burn through big old Brembos on a supercharged Jag in 6k miles. Back tyres were 3k.

Fluid absorbs water - corrodes stuff from inside. Considerably reduces it's effectiveness by reducing boiling point. Now, maybe if you drive like Miss Daisy's geriatric grandad on a slow day, you might not think that will bother you - but a long descent could cause issues.id do my own only if i had to like a leak on a cylinder if its not broke dont fix it
Maintenance only to pass MOT is a bit . . . "silly" is about as tactful as I can get.

i hardly drive slow im lucky to get over 80 thou out of a vehicle and pull the sh..it out of them
use the gears to decent long hills along with braking .use ferodo pads which are harder than standard crap that overheat and fade when the disks get hot. there not so good till you warm them upI was thinking of putting the good one back in probably get another 2000 miles
Well it's a point, but the descent would have to be from space....
