HT3 is one of the Norbar models. I think ½" input ¾" output.

No the earth should be going through that copper spring block. Not the gearbox

There's some chatter marks in that so must be a fair stickout unsupported, and the CC** insert looks like a cheap one, branded inserts make a good difference (probably why the seco button insert makes a better job)

The photos of the tools and machined shaft were done by a friend, so no idea if branded or unbranded inserts.

I might have a spare die just for the Postage, let me know and I will send winch boy out to look for it

Yesterday I was in Warwickshire and had a wander around a couple of middle-of-nowhere antique shops. In the first one I came away with these:

In the second one I got a bit carried away as this was a bit of a bargain:

I definitely didn't need this plane as I've got the #45 (this is the #55). I think it was cheap (less than £100 where complete ones usually go for £300-£400) as it's missing quite a few bits. Most of those either don't matter as they won't get used much or are exactly the same as my Stanley #45 so I can swap things between them. It needed a bit of a clean-up (after taking the photo above) and I replaced a couple of the missing bits with new parts (it's nice to have a lathe!). It only came with one box of cutters, but I will mostly only use straight ended ones (which I've got with the #45 and have made some extra ones in metric sizes too).

The main missing bit that I can't steal off the #45 is a part the manual calls "Auxiliary Centre Bottom". I doubt I really need that part as I won't be using this to take wide cuts very often, but I'll keep my eye out for one anyway. There's a locking screw (for the fence fine adjust) that was also missing on my #45 but I managed to get a replacement. Hopefully I'll find another replacement, but failing that I can borrow the #45 one when I need it.

The main thing that I was interested in this plane for was having the second fence so you can easily do cuts like this without worrying about the plane wandering to the left:

I also wanted one because it's a nice toy...

The thumbscrews do nowt for me but that plane is lovely
