I clicked it back in before it started to hurt
Was hurriedly sliding shut the doors of the Chiron before I got soaked with coolant and my finger got caught in the handle and bent it round.

It can't be that bad. He can still type away fine...

Amazingly I still have the others left to do that with.

Day two. Another early finish. 1 board of MDF short. Customer added a third robe in the previous room and used more than expected

Other members on here seem to get a hell of a lot done in a day, this simple looking hinge has taken me bloody ages.

Next to fill the lid insulation, turn a pair of spacers, and chop down the excess plate.
The lid is slightly smaller dia than the bottom half, giving an annoying step.

You're not the only one who thinks some must have a permanent rocket up their jacksy. How they manage so much is beyond me too.

If its work, you tend to have the right tools, with industrial size and capacity, yo can get stuff done quicker - and if its earning you money, or costing you money to keep it in the workshop as its keeping other work out, there's a really good incentive to crack on.

On the hobby/DIY side of things, I often get a little irritated at how often someone I'm helping, or who has come to help me, has to keep stopping for a brew!

Made some curved and radiused edge repair sections for the end of a cheese making machine this afternoon... made the same last week for 3 of the guys to go and fit this week at a customer on the Isle of Man.
Fair trek from Somerset.

They finished 3 days early, turns out they were supposed to be repairing both ends.
Knocked some more up pdq this afternoon, and someone trotted off to meet one of the site lads at the ferry terminal. Keep them busy over the weekend.

Expensive little oversight on someone's part!

So not today but yesterday
I've welded for the entire morning to finish the shaft I've started working the other day.
After finished welding boss asked me to turn it to specs.
So put it in the lathe an turned down to 0.5mm to finished sizes so it's ready to grinding (shaft grinder? We use to remove material and polish bearing surfaces on crankshafts an pins )
Then I've had to go to the dentist , and now I can't sleep because of the pain .
Fortunately it's already Friday.
But I have got arc eye because of their "professional" welding helmet.
I have to weld a lot today I'll take my helmet with me .

That's a mistake imo, tell them that if you're to be welding you need PPE suitable for purpose. By using your own you're subsidising their profits and they'll continue to take advantage of you.

A pig ear. Well actually it was yesterday, but I was too peed off to post.

Tooth 22 of a 30 tooth gear. My first attempt and everything was going great. Until the table on my mill stopped moving

Cutting noises of a sort but no movement. At least that's how it appeared to me. when you're concentrating on a specific area, and certain things are in your field of vision like, for example, the workpiece and the cutter. If relative motion between them apparently stops your brain (my brain) gets confused. It was only after several cranks of the feed screw that I realised that the mill head had loosened and was being rotated

Never mind, what's to lose? Take it out, weld it up, and re-machine. Easy!

OK, it's not perfect, but the chaps been waiting 5 years for it

Plus I finally got to use a couple of the 2" blanks that someone on this forum supplied and one of the toughened pins that Robben77 supplied to several members in 2018. That was used for the cutter arbor.

Today I made the top driveway accessible as it was blocked this morning by a tree toppling over. Not particularly accessible when you only have a Range Rover and a Defender, perhaps I need a low slung sports car .

See @zzr1200 it doesn't take too long with the big saw, gave up after this - cleared the neighbours drive from three smallish trees that were down and then after pruning off these branches my arms were feeling it so gave up (and it got dark).

Its been an insane day Mick, we only do commercial work but all of our commercial clients have been on our case for emergency work. Seen some pretty nasty accidents today, a good percentage have been caused by rotten and neglected roadside trees, most of the power lines that are down locally are from overstood/neglected roadside trees. Power is off here so I have pulled the tails and wired in a genny.

France is far from perfect, but in this area at least management of roadside trees seems to be very good; mind you, with the number of council staff we employ it should be!
