Well two things today, Remade the mount for the Spindle servo on the CNC Lathe, fortunately my Pal's Mig has plenty of juice:




A piece of laser cut 12mm.

THEN remade a cabinet to resolve the cockup I had made, some days it is just easier and simpler to stick your hands up and admit you ballsed it up, my first attempt at this was on the Pish, I am no Tinbasher though I do try, I gave the job to my Pal who has had plenty of practice, it came out perfic. Here he is working out the dimensions using the sheet of 2mm as a desk, my attempt at this , which does look good (but doesn't work) is on the left:


Yes, herewe are cutting one of the V blocksthat is tooling for the Hydrobrake to make one of the folds, I KNOW!:

This is the actual fold in question and those of you who know will see how he laid this out, he is very good at this:

Very talented fabricator who'se skills are not being passed on, well actually, he teaches me, but I am older than he is so how's that going to work?

My worst attempt at DIY! Everything went wrong. I'd bought two of these wall tray organisers.

I took down the wire basket, most of that stuff should be elsewhere.

I wanted to reuse a pair of existing holes but one wasnt going to work, It needed to be 5mm below. I drilled with a diamond tile drill to save stressing the wall, mixed the dust with epoxy go fill in the old hole. When I screwed it up, the brick cracked vertically

The trays were deep so needed a long pz2, borrowed one, didnt realise it was worn out. My screws got stuck! Needed to remove for painting. One head was destroyed, none of my hss drills would touch it, chipped a good carbide, burrs didnt help. I removed enough of the head to get the tray off the wall, but 6+ drills needing a regrind. Its in a rawl plug. Heat and melt it out, nope, it was getting hot but not enough to pull. Then I remembered the set of cheap diamond tile drills, got it done.

Painted, still wet.

I started filling the trays with my good taps, drills, small screws, all the small sods will have a home, leaving the cabinet draws for bigger stuff. Needs a proper tidy tomorrow.

When I finished, the newish door handle broke off! That is going back to wickes tomorrow and might get thrown at them, its die cast shiet!

Actually not that need. Hard to cut out nicely but it’ll work anyway

Here is how I did my wife's three leaf Bonsai tool case 10 or so year ago using a new fairly large aluminium equipment case & using closed cell foam . ( A thick used former gym mat IIRC off freecycle )

One leaf in the top of the case , one in the bottom and another in the middle . I drew the outlines with a fine point Sharpie on the 15 mm thick hardish foam
Use a trigger pack with water in it to dampened & deep freeze the foam . Like that it carves out well , cuts well with a fret saw or carefully use a half moon router bit in a battery drill to remove the waste . It took several freezings over a couple of days , once done & dried I glued the cut out masks to a whole foam backing sheet and then used 10mm wide strips of soft plant Velcro to make retaining straps by going through both thicknesses of each leaf . Using spray carpet glue to fix the upper & lower leaves into the lid & the base by spraying the back of the foam leaves then inserting the leaf rather than the spraying the inside of the case & getting glue every where..

Take a piece of hot tungsten that just formed a bit of collyflower on the tip and it's done in a fraction of a sec. You hardly feel it. 5 minutes ago. The bacon smell made me hungry, time to call it a day. View attachment 329521

Guess a brand new 3,5 mm Presto drill falls under that

Can't shout too loud ... five years ago or more I was cutting some thin ply on my bandsaw .
Even though there was a red marker pen inked zone to warn me not to put my fingers any nearer to the moving blade , for some reason I did whilst trimming up a small piece of the ply .

End result a nice painless neat profusely bleeding cut from the tip of my left hand's middle finger to about half way down the nail just scraping the bone as the finger was bent over when it happened . It took almost three months to grow out & stop catching on everything .

9m beam made from 3 offcuts butt-welded together. And triple sliding door rails cut and bolted into pads. Will get painted and installed on Saturday hopefully, and then straight onto making the doors to suit.
It doesn't look like much, but there was a fair bit of work went into making this!
And as you can see, we had a welder-off Miller vs Lorch. I still love that Miller set, glad it's still around.

Decided to try and make a pair of pegs for the bike.
First I chopped a bit off some 4" x 4" aluminium.

Faced it off to a couple of 4" x 35mm x 50mm bits.

Clamped in the vice and milled the profile.

Flipped 90 degrees in the vice.

Milled the top.

Then repeated for the other.

I have to now measure up for the part that fixes to the bike and get that milled, might manage to measure tomorrow.

Here it is alongside the oem one.

That Henderson track and trollies is mega expensive, last few we had were nearly 50 quid a trolley!

Today I made it mobile !
not very proud of me self to be honest , I had the afternoon off and wanted to push on with cart /trolley ( to be known now as franketsteel )

I cut down a wheelie axle for under the bottle carrier and bent an angle out of the off cuts and boxed the the upstand on the base which took out 90% of the flex.

two squares of 6mm plate for the front castors and welded straight on . 90% of the welding is utter pants I was losing get feed up with not enough room to swing cat !!!!!,

I'm gonna have to spend loads of time cleaning it up before It's painted plus other bits to finish , and the old chestnut of struggling to see where I was welding even with a good lid. I suppose I'm gonna need a die grinder now to clean up the hard to get bits . In hindsight it would of been easier to have made a new one , but I'll know I've bodged it
