Kurtis only uses inset tooling. All that requires is to set the tool height by some permanent method (grinding the holder or fitting a fixed shim) and he can swap and change at will.
Looks like the previous owner just welded shims to a few of the tools and kept some shims in the boxs of other tools so only mess about with their centre height once that way like you say.
I do agree the QCTP is nice and handy since I have used it on a student before but for the extra cost and butchering of the machine I'm not too fussed at the moment , However not used the lathe for that much yet so..





but if there's donated cant complain. Impressive setup on the quick change shelf and neat drill storage in the back there.
