just use some sleeve bolts and a U plate from screwfix. hell a decent eye bolt may do the job in that thick concrete

The body shop jobbies i was on about are flush so they can stay in situ and you won’t trip over them.

Id make one like this. It’s on my list for here. The bar at 90 is just to sit it into the concrete better but it’s essentially flat plate on a bit of box

id just use a concrete bolt put the pulley as close to ground as possible

but then again i have all the materials and tools

oh er misses, biggest I have seen in use was vosper thornycrofts ship yard where the guy was sat on the saddle taking one hell of a cut , 50 year ago , I was in there as apprentice with my boss to change brushess on mtr, we were kicked out pronto as not in the union.!

i have some here but i dont like the look on the eye plates, the bar is 8mm for the eye. seems just to feeble, just paranoid maybe.

I was pulling a set of 5 ft high railings back into square they were welded to the work bench one end and a 3 ton block and tackle at the other with a wire rope round a rsj...the noise and sheer speed a very heavy 3 ton block and 20ft of chain come across the workshop was very alarming! Never muck about with things under load eh

Thinking on i have some 25x10mm bar here so it mite better to make a 150x50x10 bar and weld this to that and drill a mounting hole further back as its going in concrete, these hole are a bit close together for a good base to bolt to. .

i havnt seen this thing in ages aswell ha ha, mite have another route again tomoz to see what i find.

I used an old tow ball I had kicking around. I bolted it to a beam in the workshop and used a winch on it to drag my Colchester up a ramp into the workshop.

I would post a picture but I got a lot of grief about the state of the rope I used on the lathe when I posted it last

Moved my Bridgeport with a sheet of ply and a crow bar. We moved Dad's 3t horizontal mill by hand with some scaffolding poles, Egyptian style.

I have no clue kida, dont even know where i got it from. could of had for over 20 years from when i first started off4x4 roading.

no issue but i dont have any ply, no scaff poles and hands and arms are fecked. oh there is the issue haha

Now i have a lathe here that is piggin heavy, as expected, so i dont cause me or even worse the lathe any damage i want ti fit a winch point in the work shop. I want one though i can bolt down, it will be out the way of foot traffic so that makes things easier. It will be for just dragging in things upto say 1/2ton by trolley or engine crane so on wheels

I want one for this weekend so i have been looking on Screw/station and now looking on amazon.

Any thoughts on good ones?

Perhaps not a brake, but a winch can be/are constructed such that it cannot drive backwards
