A couple of days ago I got a crane scale as I need an idea of the weight of my machines for the move. This morning I gave it a go.
In the wide shot it looks like the lead screw is under stress but it is an optical illusion

Actually, no, i start at the RAC on Monday. I'd already got the ball rolling on this and then the RAC job came along. I took it to get money in quickly, then we'll see what happens. Class 1 next.

With the amount of muppets that NEVER check tyre pressure anything that maintains pressures longer, which in turn makes for safer handling alongside reducing stopping distances as well as reducing exhaust emissions has to be worth it . And yes, I do know first hand the amount of cars that have poorly maintained tyre pressures

I agree, this is why i use a 78% nitrogen mix It's also free

Thing is, the rate of oxygen permeating through tyres is incredibly slow. You're talking years to make an appreciable difference. More likely to have a very slow puncture which pure N2 does nothing to help.
And before anyone says "my tyres used to go down every year" - that's a slow puncture! That's not O2 diffusion!

When we bought an MX5 as a project car, it was advertised as steering needed attention, brakes pulled to one side etc. Red paint had gone pink as well. But the price was right, so got it. driving it home it was all over the shop, never knew which way it was going to go. Drove it back from London with a few hairy moments & got up next morning & started having a look round, first thing check tyre pressures! Highest one was 18 psi lowest was 12 psi! Put the correct pressure in them, took it up the road, steering straight as a die, hit the brakes dead straight again. I thought this is too good to be true, back home & TCut it twice & it came up as one of the straightest MK 1’s you will find. We’ve had it about 15 years now, just tax it for the summer, too old to drive a sports car in the winter!

If the seller had used his noodle, checked the tyres, TCut & polished it he would have easily doubled what he got for it.

The skies above where I live are one of the playgrounds for the french air force jets training, we often see the sky covered with vapour trails etc... All good fun good to watch..

Anyway today, working outside the workshop painting, so I cranked the music up a bit louder than usual, no neighours to speak of so why not... anyway, good loud celtic rock on the go, happened to look up, and I reckoned the pilots must have been listening in too..... couldn't have time it better, raised a big grin.....

maybe I should turn it down a wee bit eh....

Some new monster castors arrived today. They are all the same height (188 mm total, with 150 mm wheels), which you'd expect but I was a little uncertain as the ebay listing said the unbraked ones were 13 cm tall and the braked ones were 18 cm tall.

Massive overkill in terms of weight for what I want, but I want to be able to manoeuvre the unit over some very rough ground and bigger wheels should make that easier. I still find it slightly amazing that you can buy four castors of this size for £35 including delivery.

Look round the back of big stores for busted delivery cages and trolleys. Casters galore for free.

I have one - even better I have the 70 to 210 as well which is a constant F3.5 - both in canon fit.
Best thing of all - no damn autofocus.
Who needs autofocus? Most of the lenses tend to be used on infinity anyway. No losing focus at an air display for example!

Yeah, I'd lusted after an SP 70-210 for years, but was quite happy with the 80-210 on my old OM-1.
Then, ten years ago, when everybody was losing their heads over digital, I finally got one for twenty five quid.
I was gobsmacked - it looked like it hadn't been used. Same deal as this one I just bought, case, hood, adapter.
At the time it was just another one for the collection of good old glass I was hoovering up all around, and apparently nobody wanted any more. I see things have changed a lot and Zeiss (West and East) has shot up, due to the fanbois bigging it up in recent years. Older Tamron SP stuff is still flying under the radar, though.
Some of those who own both, say that the SP quality is right up there with Canon L stuff, but I can't verify that directly. From the comparison shots I've seen, I'd say it's true in some cases, but I'd not go as far as to say all cases. There are a couple of Tamron ordinaries that get into SP territory, and if you get an abused SP, it can be crud.
