A few years ago they made the mistake of writing exactly that in BS7671, that manufacturers instructions should be followed in precedence over BS7671.
In the very next ammendment they removed it again and changed it a requirement to take account of BS7671.
A lot of electrical equipment has manufacturers instructions which call for incorrect, dodgy or downright dangerous things to be done.

In most things manufacturers instructions trump standards.
PPE is an example I’m familiar with.
The standard provides a guide of what is to be achieved, the instructions say how.
most important is compliance with the neccessary legislatio, often it’s easier to say you’ve followed the relevant standard but it’s not compulsory

Why not an open forum? Open implies that it is for everyone.
Why would I try to fit in? I am an individual, as is everyone else, I'm not going to change to suit anyone else's opinion.

I need a quick bit of help here so am hijacking this, I need to submit an application tonight to UK power for a single phase supply for our village cemetery, the supply is needed to operate electric gates and a cctv camera, they are asking :- · Confirmation of the total power requirement for the connection in kVA, taking into account diversity.
What should I ask for? Gates are not yet ordered so no data plate, need to allow for a bit of future proofing, maybe some lighting, sorry for the hijack!

Find out the max before they want do do an indepth survey (or the notify after limit) and go in just below that

If its a single phase supply then they will give almost certainly give you a standard 100A SP supply whatever you ask for.
Regular electric gates will use a few hundred Watts, a cctv system will use a few tens of Watts maybe, a little lighting these days will also use a few tens of Watts.
So if you put down 3kVA it will be plenty.

I hate seeing folks coiling it by winding over hand and elbow so it twists into a figure of 8, similar pulling cable/wire over the side of the drum instead of unrolling it.
