They would of been used for measuring tapers where they came from, as Pete says. You depth mike the gauge ball at the bottom of the taper then depth mike a bigger gauge ball at the mouth of the taper.

Just how it is, could be taken by whoever is looking at the cameras as a backhander for something they haven't seen. Could cause a lot of hassle, just not worth accepting it for the FLT driver. If something goes missing, stock-count is wrong and he is seen accepting your money he will be under suspicion. A word of thanks is always welcome.

Yeah I deal with a lot of cash at work which I see primarily as a tool - doesn’t seem like ‘money’ just something I use to do my job. It’s actually more a hindrance than a help when someone tips me, extracting it and remembering the amount for later…

Tiny little mag chuck. Man it's strong though! Not strong enough to transfer much force through the transfer block though, that will work better on my J&S mag chuck.

Some rusty racking, from an old shed in my mate's workshop yard. It'll need stripping, de-rusting and painting, but it was free so I can't complain. Almost a jungle in front of it that had to be cut back just to access the door, and a massive pile of rubbish that the local scumbags had thrown over the fence rather than putting in their bin.

I dragged this ex college Ingersoll Rand type 30 in today.
Someone’s had the original motor off and sat a 2hp three phase one on there but I think I’ll find a single phase motor for it. I just need to figure out what power it would have been originally.

Some 32mm and one 25mm steel plates. Were previously machine feet. Dunno what to do with them, maybe press plates and some big welding jig/heatsink plates?

I didn’t technically need this but when you find an old hardware shop with some very nice old funnels in, there’s only one outcome really. The gauze is a nice touch, I’ll use this on the tractor I hope.

Finally turned up yesterday, these two have been on order over two months but well worth the wait, having the drill chuck on a Quick Change holder, bloody magic. Yes, this system and holders can run into money but well worth every penny, transformed the speed with which I can swap tooling:

Got fed up with cheapo telescopic magnets - magnets falling out, not strong enough or telescope breaking - so splashed out on the Teng version, Nice features: aluminium collar that can snap on/off so does not stick to sides, reasonably strong magnet, telescopic handle feels much more robust and extends 85cm.

Not today but it arrived earlier in the week. I needed to get some stuff shifted and a stand made first. Just about to give it a clean up and oil over. It’s got wet on it’s trip but nothing harmful, just a bit of flash rust on the ungreased bits. Bit of scotchbrite will sort it.

Stand is made but needs more bracing and Chemfix to floor before it’s used in anger.
