Our only fault, if you can call it that is we are not very good at shouting about it from the roof tops
Might be due to the fact that for the last few centuries they've rampaged round the globe in sailing ships sticking the Union flag in any piece of land that they happened upon and claiming it for the reigning monarch, as well as subjugating the local populace and forcing them to be "British" or taking them captive before sailing home to Liverpool or Bristol and selling them into slavery.People do love to bash Britain, no idea why

And let's not forget that the English have spent quite a few years subjugating the other nations of Great Britain, Scotsmen banned from wearing the kilt, Welsh folk banned from speaking their own language, Irish folk sent across the globe to seve penal servitude for simply looking after their families, etc, etc...
Ooh, let's not forget the Belgians and the Dutch. Most of the British Isles were pretty well subjugated by the Romans and then by the Normans. The South of England pretty much acquiesced to the Normans, but resistance in the North of England was brutally put down and even as late as Henry VIII the occasional uprising in the North was put down savagely. I think the argument could be made that working class Brits were still hardly better off than slaves well in to the time of the Industrial Revolution. Many jobs caused health impairments that would limit life expectancy to little more than 30. You only have to see film recorded in the early part of the 20th century to see how dreadful working conditions were and injury and death at work were taken for granted. But so did the Spanish, Portugese, Italians, French, Germans. In fact more European countries did it than not.
The vast majority of British colonies benefited from higher living standards, law and order, and many advantages which, in Africa especially, seem to have vanished since independence. The Empire did far more good than harm.Might be due to the fact that for the last few centuries they've rampaged round the globe in sailing ships sticking the Union flag in any piece of land that they happened upon and claiming it for the reigning monarch, as well as subjugating the local populace and forcing them to be "British" or taking them captive before sailing home to Liverpool or Bristol and selling them into slavery.
