While researching to make a car ramp/lift, Hamer lift

I spotted this while i was looking for ideas to make car ramp/lift for the FTO a sit need a good bit of welding. Anyway i come by this, not that i want to buy one and at that cost. seems a lot of money or are they that good, anyone got one. http://hamercarlift.com/

I'm gonna hand this over to the mechanic this time rather than tying effort and stress into something homebuilt that I am not certain would work.

But in the long run, gonna have to get better options. Step one is probably casting a solid concrete plate under my car roof. Have another one I canwork on but it's border line size wise.

A pit would be nice, but those aren't easy to make and there are environmental regs to consider, so more of a pipe dream.

Drive one end onto car ramps, jack up the other end and put axle stands / spare wheels under it so the car is level and well off the ground, the higher the better. It's not as good as an inspection pit or lift but it's fine for doing a couple of patch repairs. I replaced 2 full inner & outer sills (+ other bits) that way without problems.

the ramps we used was homemade

you could drive up them and across them first

or you could as what we did jack up place 2 under the wheels then did same with the rear end

rejack again and put the beams under the wheels

as you can see we had landys and vans on them

With a hole that big today, your inspector must have had a very light touch for the last couple of previous inspections.

Who knows if they even hit it, inspectors rate of thoroughness varies a lot I've noticed. This guy I went to last time is known for being thorough.

Welded, the bottom section got replaced all around, the structural bit was fine.

They put some black stuff over it though, figure I might have to scrape it off so I can pre-treat the underside with Dinitrol ML. I have bought 5 liters of that which is a cavity-protection with creeping features. Then after that is done and dried I will apply the black stuff over that.

I thought the bill was fair for the work done, it wasn't just the welding. The car failed on several points that I didn't bother mentioning earlier.

-Welded on both sides
-Front bumper spring replaced
-Handbrake wires replaced (one was broken, the other on it's way out)
-Rear brakes fixed (didn't brake evenly, variance was too large anyway for passing)
-Front lights adjusted height wise

Totaled 530€ I honestly thought it'd be more.

Not personally but seems robust? Looks safer than some of the things I have seen (or indeed used!) over the last 40 years of messing with cars!

I actually have 2 sets but I haven't started using them yet!

There was a German company who made them with a built in lift that was powered by a hand drill...thats the second one I bought! The idea is you can raise/lower to whatever hight you want very easily.
