I was curious how you got the rusted effect, thanks, you answered my question, before I asked it.

Therefore it is worth saving rusty metal, good excuse !

Here is a picture of it prior to head being mounted. I'm terrible for keeping hold of rusty lumps of metal as for somethings once cleaned up its more fitting that a shiny new piece of steel. Cleaning it up with a twistnot wire wheel on angle grinder then rubbed

it over with some stove polish.

Customer come in with a cast iron hedgehog head he had dug up in his garden several years ago and wondered if I could make some sort of plaque to mount it on so he could hang it up. This was the result I came up with. View attachment 279843

Being the sad person I am, I know that that hedgehog was at one time probibly (I know theres a chance I am wrong but I doubt it) a boot brush.... I have a collection of over 200 (hedgehogs not boot brushes) from all over the place

The search continued. I found more stuff. I even found some unused floor space under the bench, but not the screw. I needed more anyway so started turning two m6, another m8 and dropped each I now have quite a swarf free floor as I was forced to sweep it up and look for them.

I now have cables, complete other than some delrin insulators.

It started out as a box to drain a deck.

Then it turned into two boxes with removable grates.

Then they asked if I could polish them and add mounting holes as well.

I don’t tend to do a much non tubular stainless but these have come out quite nicely.

Sure deck drains were called scupper boxes, a long time ago. ADDJUNKIE to the front.

Not sad at all. I thought it was most probably from an old boot scraper. My 6 year old son loves hedgehogs and we made a hedgehog house for the garden before winter and within a week one had moved into it. It's currently still hibernating.

If I'd have known No2 daughter wanted the ruddy thing painted black GLOSS I'd have taken a bit more time and rubbed the primer down! Of all the finishes to show up every imperfection!

A different day at work yesterday. Line manager knew I have a fetish for collecting power tools so asked me to help with his new training facility.
Had to rip down some scaffold planks and fit them together. I used a combination of screwing to the sleepers and some steel brackets I made up out of 5mm flat.

Next stage is ballast, clean the rust off the running surfaces and then my daughter is going to paint the back wall to look as if the tracks are disappearing into a tunnel. The survey kit is constantly monitoring the rails. Wonder if I managed to register a movement yesterday? Doubt it!

I have never been very successful when it comes to cookies and biscuits .... todays Oat cookies were no exception
When they went in they were only big enough for 4 Smarties!! Still, they taste fine.
