Cost 60 quid, it 400 wide, about 15 high and deep.

I would have loved to have used it as an excuse for buying a TIG but the stone for the planned new porch has emptied my pockets.

In previous years, I've been in the habit of borrowing a friend's 6 hp 4-stroke Yamaha outboard for transporting our floating dock back and forth between a crude "boat landing" on a neighbor's property and our place, which is a few hundred meters upstream. In case anyone is wondering why we move our dock so often, we live on the tidal portion of the Androscoggin River, but far enough upstream from the ocean that it's fresh water, so the river freezes over during the winter. It is still frozen as I write this, although we've been having warmer weather lately, and I expect the ice to break up soon. We have to pull the dock out every winter and install it again in the spring. We didn't put the dock in the water at all last year due to the Covid situation, but we're hoping to get it back in the water later this spring if things go well.

Anyway, he called me and asked if I wanted to buy the motor, since he hadn't been getting any use out of it, so I took him up on his offer. It's a 2011 model that he bought new, but it only has about 10 or 12 hours on it (mostly from moving my dock back and forth over the past 6 or 7 years, I suspect ). It's in super nice condition, with hardly a scratch...fresh water use only and kept stored in a dry place, etc. I offered him more than he wanted, but he insisted on giving me a deal on it, so now I just need to fabricate a cart/trolley for it, which should be a good welding project .

Taken a few years ago (pre-Covid), the following photo shows a neighbor "piloting" our dock with the outboard. The dock is listing to one side because it has extra float drums under one side to compensate for the weight of the end of the gangway when the dock is in place. I simply back my trailer into the water to float the dock on or off of it, much like launching a boat. We only live about 300 meters upstream from where we "launch" the dock, but the steeper, rocky terrain on our property doesn't lend itself to a launching site, and even if it did, it would be tough to get planning permission to alter the shoreline enough to create a boat landing. Our permit is for a "seasonal dock," which allows us to keep a dock in the water for up to 7 months out of each year if I recall correctly.

In another photo taken a few years ago, here's what the dock looks like about mid-tide. I didn't build the gangway, as I don't have the facilities to handle something that large, but I did fabricate a number of other parts of the dock setup.

Not technically I acquired so much as work acquired. Lifted the old machine out and helped move the new machine in. Controls stuff is top of the line when it comes to compression testing equipment. Doesn't look like it but that's the best part of 20k sitting there.

in layman's terms it means I can legally use my drone to do commercial work, mainly will be tree surveys from the sky saving us needing to send a climber up to see if the crowns are rotting so often.

Not a daft question. It's for testing the strength of concrete blocks, cubes, cores and cylinders. Basically if you have poured concrete or cut some out of an old structure and need to know that it is making its design strength/is strong enough for what you want to do this is what you use.

Thought I would avoid super cheap eBay carp however this could have came with certs and things so a bit more confidence, Not as nice as lincoln but they weren't stocking it unfortunately otherwise I would have gone for a spool of that,

I imagine all welding errors will be down to user not consumables

They have 24-7 right of access for maintenance, and would have the right to order me to remove said shed, or do it for me, in pieces then bill me.. in short, the deeds of my house have a easement that prevents me placing any building within 10ft of the water main, but a tent isn’t a building

To be fair that’s pretty cheap I wouldn’t like to think how much a sheet of stainless is at the minute let alone getting it profiled and then folding it all.
