Massive thanks to Arthur for the heads up on some digger buckets local to me today, this afternoon I bought and collected a good 12 inch one,it looks a lot stronger than the normal ones I have seen, from what I have found I think it is a Bofors bucket.




It has the B-lock removable teeth





these are the plugs to stop them getting filled with dirt I pulled them out and gave them a bit of a clean. I think it is real handy as it saves me having another bucket one with and one without.




I nearly bought some shorter pins off the seller as this one fits inside the boom arm jaws, luckily I remembered there are some shorter pins in the toolbox on the digger now I know what they are for.



I'm a happy bunny I have all the buckets I need. Again cheers Arthur Daily What a fantastic forum

Ah Arthur I must tell you my secret weapon when facebooking messaging, Mother!!!!! I always let mother do the messaging, she has a way with words, like hello lovey could you tell me if this is still avalible, and things like, ooo you are a sweet I would like to pop round and have look, when are you free I haven't got the patience to many messers on there.

Been having fun getting used to the digger it saves a lot of time. Now I have had to make a start getting my little dumper working I picked up a skip cheapish although I think the skip was off a thwaites orion as it a little bit smaller than the tusker skip so have had to make up a new locking mecanisum, it on going but getting there

I will probably make the side higher as well to carry more load.

I got the dumper more or less sorted to use I also extended the skip this morning the extension pieces are not fully welded so they can be undone at a later stage. It certainly holds more material now.

It could do with somew more tipping angle but I cannot get the correct tipping angle



without either moving the skip more forward then the tipping handle would need to be moved more forwards or I cutting a different angle on the chassis rails and making them shorter.

I did actually start to cut the chassis rails until father said “sods law you’ll cut them rails and you’ll find a tusker skip” he’s usually right so I stopped. So when I tip I have to get off the dumper and move the last bit in the skip it only takes about 20 seconds, and father reckons it’l keep me from getting porky.
I have given it a good service by replacing the oils in the steering box, axle, gearbox and engine, I also the drums off and sorted the brakes and fixed a handbrake that was seized, best brakes I have ever had on a dumper now. Considering it was bought as an engine seized scrapper for parts for the forklift, its one of the best running and starting Petters engine dumpers we've ever had. Father reckons its not done a lot of work like the Thwaites forklift as the gear knob still has the gear numbers on top. I think its going to be a keeper.

I was going to do some serious digging with the back actor the other day, (Ive decided to make the yard a bit bigger) whist using the back actor I was thinking it feels a bit sluggish or slow so I decided to pull out the hydraulic oil filter. The hydraulic oil are the only thing I haven't look at yet, I had a bit of a shock, look at this mess.

Ive parked up the diigger until I flush the hydraulic oil and fitted the new filter that's arrived today.

I reckon its going to make a bit of a difference to the performance, lol.

lasat week I sorted a couple of other jobs on it, the right hand side brakes now work, for some strange reason someone had fitted a battery that was to long hence stopping the brake linkage moving. Brakes are now very good. The diff lock is all now unsiezed and working, and the throttle pedal returns back properly. All in all little improvments but makes a big difference.

And the really good news is the V5 has arrived.

Ive no idea what is is or where it came from I pulled a handful out from the filter housing also.

Could be Richard, if the date on the old filter is anything to go by and the amaount of green moss in the cab when I first got it, and lastly the milky oil.

Ive finally found a roof for my digger, bought it off fleebay it got (shiply) picked up from Shefield on Saturday and should arrive this week fingers crossed. Its going to save me a bit of time making one.

The diggers working well and I have been sorting a few bits out on it when time permits. This week I am hoping to have the lift and bucket ram seals sorted. The front 4 in 1 bucket takes some getting used to, I have only ever used a normal front bucket, this ones a different ball game.

Ram seals have arrived in the agri shop luckily I pick them up in the morning, I say luckily as if id picked them up today and not had a chance to ask you guys if there were any tricks to fitting them, and would have probably bungled them up then thought why didnt i ask..

Question are there any tips or tricks to fitting rams seal

Use a cut up plastic bottle as a sort of "funnel" to feed the new seals on the rod into the cylinder so they don't get damaged at the top of the cylinder.
