So the props definitely need to rotate in opposite directions.
The Wikipedia entry for sterndrives mentions "lower units are also available with counter-rotating gearing to provide balanced torque in dual-drive installations."
That would suggest the engines are likely to rotate in the same direction, but the gearing arrangement results in opposite directions of rotation of the props themselves. Are there any model labels or ratings plates on the outdrives themselves?
Clockwise/counterclock in paired up marine engines are common, its not all about the props either. That said wollys engines may just be marinised car engines. https://www.melling.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/marine-engines-standard.pdf
