I think the automatic pool cover alone was about 15k, its only a glorified roller shutter built/concealed into the end of pool,its the sort you can walk on when pulled out.

Could be ground water coming up through the hydrostatic valve, the one that stops ground water popping the thing out of the ground like a boat if its empty.

Haven't built one but I delivered one to a big posh house at Rosset near Wrexham yesterday.
Possibly the oddest load I've ever carried, it was 10 metres long, 5 metres wide, and about 2 metres at the deep end. Made in 2 sections of welded box section clad in grp and covered in small mosaic tiles I had one and one of our chaps had the other along with a 2 metre spa and I craned them off one at a time onto a local farmer's flatbed trailer. Access was impossible for artics so he took them to the house where they were bolted together and lifted into place with a mobile crane.
Odd for sure but quite interesting all the same, and as we did the transhipping in a quiet lane just off the A483 by the River Alyn it attracted a lot of interest from locals out walking their dogs.

Not built one but just had this bad boy installed. Son is pretty competitive swimmer and this is ideal for training, he was in it at 530 am yesterday!
Anyway apparently we now need decking around it, anyone got any suggestions as to where to go for such a construction or indeed recommend any decent DIY sites?

I've done a few decking jobs, the last one used non-slip decking boards from Selco (like normal boards but with a wide soft tread in the center made from reclaimed rubber) - I've seen the same in pubs as it's very smart and safe even when wet, shame Selco stopped stocking it as a few people who have seen it have asked if I would like to do something similar for them
I'm not looking for work (I'm busy for the rest of the year unless plans change) but am always happy to have a chat

You have 2 obvious choices for your base, either a solid slab foundation (concrete or paving slabs etc) with battens on then lay the decking, or do it like suspended floor in a house with supported beams above ground, then lay decking. Use some damp proofing (membrane etc) to stop gound water soaking into the timbers. PM sent with links that might help.
When laying the boards remember to leave a gap to allow for expansion / ventilation
