I bought a 26mm for mine 3mm wide. Should do some damage, anyway.

So I ended up buying a 3 x 32mm tool and holder new from eBay it came with some Seco inserts and after a few trial cuts it seems to perform better than the last tool. firstly because it’s more rigid and the Seco inserts seem to form the chip better than the Chinese ones.

Thanks for all the replies... went for the RDG tools offering in the end (mainly based on expediency). It has however performed very well so far with 3mm insert, 26mm blade and 20mm shank...

I was having problems with chatter on my Harrison.
I "nipped up" the head stock spindle bearings.
Total transformation.
I can part off 4 inch bar under power with a 2 quid Banggood tip .

My parting block arrived from rdg so wanted to try the chinese blades I had. The 16mm shank fits my modified 250-100 holder but sticks out an extra 7mm, I'll trim with grinder.

En3 mild steel. 2mm blade cut very well I accidently had it at 700rpm and got zero chatter, so its a lot better than the MGMN200's . Id normally part under 400rpm.

3mm blade. Had to turn the speed down to the 300 rpm and cut ok.

Quicker to use a grinder and slitting disc, with the lathe running!

Didnt say I did it, said it was quicker. Though I do confess to once using a flap disc on something in the lathe with it running. But I did cover the bed with fire blanket and it wasnt my lathe. We had shortened a half shaft for a trike, welded it up, spun it in the lathe to check it was straight. The sleeve wouldnt slide into place, didnt have heat, so the shaft got polished. Id have taken a cut but he had no tools worth using, only those garbage brazed on machine mart jobbies.

give the hacksaw a good rogering with cutting compound on and a mid speed on lathe and it wont

If you want to prove me wrong post up a vid of you cutting some 25mm steel with a hacksaw in the lathe.
I will post a vid of me doing some 50mm with a parting tool and we will see.
