Hi Guys,
been a member for a long time but always found the answers I needed through searching so not had to post much,
Ive got a 5 series bmw, my rear drivers wheel had a crack in it and I welded it. I used my jasic pro at about 140amps, unknown filler wire that I use for everything aluminium.
I cut down the crack with a 1mm slitting disc and used a die grinder to vee out the repair both sides.
The weld took well, I have hardly any crap that boiled out of it and it looked nice. My problem is Ive done this 3 times now and it's cracked again each time.
I know the concensus would be to throw it and get a new wheel, but theyre not that common and I thought while I have the equipment to repair it I may as well expand my skillset a bit more.
Any ideas of where I may have been going wrong?
