Buy decent line. Oregon Nylium Starline is wickedI might give that a go if I keep having problems....the Stihl runs 2.4mm line and it's a lot better I think then the dewalt line. Easier to load too as it doesn't seem th want to come flying out when you take your hand off.

That plane should take a decent edge and can be used on modern plastic as well as wood.
The band saw, if fitted with a narrow blade will cut nice tight curves.
I had forgotten that gun - and what a beauty - much nicer than the German stuff!
