Wood Effect Flooring

Currently on the final stages of finishing off my van conversion

But I'm struggling to decide on what flooring to use?

Do I use Laminate, Vinyl, Vinyl Flooring Tiles... I just keep going round in circles!

Realistically I want an Oak effect style flooring, But I want the flooring to have the imitation wood grain/planking effect. A lot of the flooring I've been looking at looks rather cheap & fake wood looking! I know it won't be exactly the same as a real wood floor

My next problem...

Some of the layers of ply on the current flooring has chipped away, Now with laminate flooring I can't see this being a problem. But most of the Vinyl flooring I've been looking at is 3mm thickness, So I would imagine that I need to fill in the voids before laying the flooring otherwise it will look dreadful?

Can I use self levelling compound or is there a more suitable product available?

Finally my van will be used for most outdoor activities so it needs to be durable & waterproof, my friends have some laminate on their boat & its looking pretty bad. But I'm unsure if this is due to poor quality or its been damaged by water possibly?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, As I'm getting to the point of not bothering with anything

I'd go with vinyl planks
Easy to remove and replace individually if required.

Laminate will end up trashed in short order

Would need a flexible filler for board damage.

Have a look at Karndean plank flooring, it looks like wood & if it gets damaged you can lift individual planks with a hot air gun. We’ve got it in the kitchen & hall, been down 20 years & still looks good. Not cheap but good.

Recently did/doing a micro-camper. Decided to embrace the lino and got some of that sort of industrial stuff you might see in a hospital or nursery or similar.

Looks/feels very hard-wearing and am happy with the results

Edit; not helpful on the wood effect front though!

@johnser Yeah I've seen similar stuff, Some people call it Safety Vinyl, God knows why!

Not so keen personally, But think I will go with vinyl self adhesive planks which can be switched out easily when damaged

Wood effect "lino" is available.
Exmrsegg has it in her living room - hardwearing enough to take 5 years of dogs + grandkids (and wheelchair)
"Rhinofloor" is the brand i believe.

The floor is already ply lined, But its showing a few battle scars. I want to keep the height of the floor as low as possible as the roof is only just high enough as it is to stand up

I think I might repair the damage with what @eLuSiVeMiTe has already suggested + I'm on a tight budget

lino is go to easy fit washable and dont mind if left wet to dry out and cheap

if the under flooring is carp filler it id try car body filler sand flat lay the lino a bit of spray glue in a few places and mastic round the edges

the lino you should be able to pickup v cheap there are lots of carpet places getting rid of off cut lino maastic £3 car filler 5er

in a year if it not as to your liking rip up lay new down

@angellonewolf I only plan to keep the van another year to then upgrade to a bigger one, So yeah don't want to go too crazy on outlay

I did notice there is quite a difference in Vinyl flooring thickness! I can only imagine the thicker stuff is more durable
