To be fair, I usually bought them like that. .

The trick was to find ones that were just bad enough to be VERY cheap. But only bad in places that could be fixed cheaply - preferably with expanding foam and filler.
I managed six? seven? years of virtually free vans: i i stripped them for parts if they failed MOT on something onerous to fix.
Which meant I had plenty of bits for the next one.


I tried to pay around £200 for a van, knowing i could sell the engine for £150 + £30 apiece for starter + alternator.
Only thing i ever lost was diesel money to bring them home. (And that was just the once!)

We moved a shipment of flooring from Italy back to the UK a few months ago. Pallets were over weight so we had to repack for a tail lift delivery.
It looked like high quality oak laminate flooring with a lovely grain. It was actually ceramic tiles! Lovely stuff but I bet very very expensive.

Pig to lay though. They bow during manufacturing.

I think the worst repair was the rear support beam, Knowing what I know now it's given me more experience on what to look for when buying another van in the future

I suppose it depends on the manufacturer. Some bound to be better than others.

Better yes. Perfect. Nope
Il always go for a thick bed to give me clearance. Ends need to be slightly low and middle a little high.
Thankfully a little lippage with these doesn't look out of place.
