Nothing special, but it kept me happy.



The other day I melted two engines.
Leaving me with 2 cranks. The lower one was a pain. The Alternator was seized solid onto the shaft. In situ it was impossible to remove.



Nut off again, a make shift OE puller. Flat bar of metal and 3 bolts.
No, in the end a 10 ton puller was called in and a bit of heat.



Off, the issue was some one in the past had lost the Woodruff Key. So round up the nut super tight, jamming it on the taper shaft.




A circle offcut was brazed on using a paraffin torch.



This wee thing.
It was also used to head up the seized part.

Was also good to warm the whole lot up to burn any rust off and apply wax.



I need a bigger candle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This afternoon I made faceted side panels with a nice radius around the edge.

Now I’m thinking I might make an aluminium tank.

Bit of garage time messing about with some jewelry again.

2 copper bracelets and 2 rings. 1 stainless overlapped with a copper rivet, which didn't go as well as planned so filled the gap with silver solder. 1 split titanium.
Bracelets were just a practice to see try out the techniques but came out ok. I'll use some new unused 22mm I have left over for the next ones.

Fun few hours yesterday evening and early morning.



This axe, this is how it came to me.
The shaft is rough, the edge is dull. But the head it tight.



Cleaned up.
The head is triple fixed. 2 wedges and glue. Not something I am a fan off, glue. It stops the 2 wooden items moving and leads to possible splitting.

The edge, that was a pain. I had to regrind both sides to being equal. It looks like some one had tried to convert it to a side axe, badly.
The head is light weight. Almost a Kindling/starter axe.




Dead.
No life when plugged in. But at least it didn't trip the breakers.
Ignore the odd bit of wire underneath, that's just a odd bit of bench rubbish.

Turns out the neutral core had failed, at the plug end. Simple re wire and a new fuse.

But what to do with it.



The spindle shaft Dia. is 13.5 mm. The grinding wheel is past it's best. Worse I have no adapters for this size shaft.



The wire wheel, was usable. It is stamped on the direction of use. But was fitted wrong. It came with the adapters, so was saved on put on the RHS.

But I did have a spare Mop spindle. It fitted, not modification needed. So it was used.



It works.
The future for it?

Not sure yet.

Repaired a edge trimmer this morning
20minute of my life for 20 euros think might be worth
So replaced the fuel lines , applied some liquid gasket (arenxos ermetico A0019) on the carburettor manifold gaskets
Changed the sparkplug ,(not our @Spark plug )
Little bit of carb tuning
Materials provided by the customer

Later I'll start making a knife because my sister wants one (smaller and foldable)
I'll make the blade out of a worn diamond wheel (should be good steel )
Now I'm going to having lunch
Later I'll probably upload some pictures if I'm able to shot them prior the customer comes to take the trimmer

Not today, but over the last week or so...

A couple of Xenomorph busts.

The left one is about finished, both are 3d printed ABS and have been run through an acetone vapour smooth.
The left one has been sprayed with a chrome spray paint then a little black dry brushed on to help pick out the features.

The right one still needs a bit more work, I am going to use some ABS gloop to make the disc appear more organic, then it will recieve the same treatment as the left.

WHY? I hear you ask...

Well, about a month ago the alternator went on my car and whilst replacing it I noticed the front badge was broken in a couple of places and actually fell off by the time I had done. So I thought why not replace them, I could have just found some standard Vauxhall badges but why be boring .

replacement compound slide arrived for the lathe today, fitted it and noticed the tool post had been machined down to suit the old slide that had been damaged and repaired, so cut a suitable bit of plate to the same size as the tool post base then drilled out the centre, unfortunatley i didnt have a drill big enough so had to use the independant four jaw chuck on the lathe as the hole was slightly off centre, some packers under the tool post and a boring tool to finish the hole to size, all done and Mark is a happy bunny, might even strip the lathe and get it painted now lol...

Made over the last few weeks but finally painted today and had a head board panel added in covered in a piece of material from my scraps bag, the finish is made to look a bit scruffy and random it took a lot of effort to make it look that rough
