Today I acquired...........

Got a friend who's a Doc on the ICU and she was asking if I knew where she could get some PPE, we had a raid of the stores at work and dropped loads of goggles, safety glasses etc off to them, but she said they need visors too, you can't buy them anywhere so I thought I'd start making them, loads of people all over the world are doing it at the moment. There's facebook groups with details of the designs etc, I'm small fry, some guys have big 3D printers and can knock out 5 at a time, I can only do 1.
Theres other designs using sheet and either routing it out or laser cutting it, those guys are knocking out close to 300 units per day, but they're all starting to struggle with materials. Mine isn't too bad, a reel of PLA will do 60 masks, then I need some elastic and some A4 OHP Transparency, luckily loads of people in our village have stacks of it in cupboards and are donating it.

I'm amazed how good this printer is, it's really nicely made too, very solid, and it was only £155, completely nuts how it's possible to make it for that!
Now I just need to learn how to do 3D CAD

Quite simply the best calculator on the planet...if it was the 1980s .

It's mint condition too...I don't get on with the new ones. For example if I want to calculate 10 squared my brain expects to type 10 and then press the squared button...the modern stuff expects the opposite which makes no sense to me!

I used to have one very similar but mine didn't have the hard case...it really is mint....I trashed mine back in the day!

I still have my Casio fx-39 from 1979 it seemed to cost a lot back then so i kept it for years and retired it to a box in the loft.

I always use jubilee clips for that reason

I do, I was using a push fit adapter that has a hose barb on it, I don't know how it stayed on for so long ! in fact I lock wire the hose on normally but for some reason this time I forgot!
A few hours with the portable A/C unit in there with the exhaust hose pointing between the joists had it dry. Smoke alarm is still fooked though....

This was left out in the road for the scrap-man next to a dishwasher and a skip. There's a house clearance going on.

Pictures make it look better than it is.

Engine turns over, oil looks clean, nothing in the fuel tank. Maybe fuel was drained before being put away last time or was it the perished fuel hose? Will check for spark later. All those hours watching Mustie1 videos on Youtube might not have been wasted.

Just an update on the lawnmower. We have spark. I have my own special starter system. Managed to give myself a belt. Will be more careful in future.

Belts look fine and the cables work to engage drive and the blades . It's 24 years old. Been neglected but I don't think it has seen much work. No damage to the Nylon sprockets.

State of air filter.

The blades are the worst looking part. Will they clean up a bit in use? They hardly turned until I loosened them away from the metal plate that they cut against.

Carb float. It moves freely. There's a bit of a clue showing as to what's coming next.

Carb Bowl. Lots of lovely rust.

Had a lovely time taking it apart and having a poke around. I have ordered some new fuel hose, HT cap cover and spark plug.
Worth it despite being disowned by the wife and getting called "Mr Trebus". Again!

I don't know if they will clean up but to set the blades the plate should be adjusted up until it will cut a thick piece of paper not fold it over and no more as you will wear the sole plate

Thanks, sole plate was the word that was escaping me. I think that the mower was originally set up correctly but the all the corrosion had closed up the gap. I have since downloaded the operator's manual.
