Lifting sling .. Only 1 use?

Nothing like steel though, especially if what your rigging to isn’t perfectly round or smooth.
I keep 5 steel slings and 5 dyneema in my bag.
Bloody heavy though.
But then I have got backup ID, backup ascender, shunts, pulleys, two sets of ropes, god knows what else in there.

I carry far to much, but im yet to not get to a position

Only the white ones at the moment, 750kg rated and feel quite flimsy tbh.

They are only used on round tube ,
I wasn't suggesting they be used in a commercial setting again though.

There's a good reason why they are classed as "single use slings"
Steel merchants for example, need to leave the sling on the steel for loading/unloading, so they won't see them again. They aren't on any lifting register, they aren't inspected, and generally made as cheaply as possible for the load rating.
They fall under LOLER but are treated differently.

This matter came up on site this week as the main contractor insists that lorries came in 'pre-slung'. I mentioned the above and the project manager heading the meeting said no, they still have to be on your lifting accessories register.

I don't know if that's company policy or loler regs, but I have always believed that the single-use sling rule was specifically to bypass the need for keeping them on the register due to the logistical difficulties.

I know we used to skip them straight away, once lifted off the lorry, to avoid the potential errors if they find their way out of quarentine. I have a few at home handy for farmy stuff.

we had another 25 bundles delivered today, supervisor said she'll put them aside for me as they get through them.

Id imagine company rule as lifting kit minimum loler interval is 6 months new kit doesn't need a loler until the 6months though you should still have the paper trail to confirm its age. As with everything its ass covering

I normally order new slings for each paying job on the odd infrequent site bits I get involved with, then they get used for my own personal use, purely to avoid record keeping.

Unless your lifting regularly, its probably cheaper, one and two ton slings arnt dear, 1 ton continous about £3.50 on aamazon.
