Still useful, as pete said its not having the certificate of conformity that prevents commercial use after material is delivered with them.

There's a good reason why they are classed as "single use slings"
Steel merchants for example, need to leave the sling on the steel for loading/unloading, so they won't see them again. They aren't on any lifting register, they aren't inspected, and generally made as cheaply as possible for the load rating.
They fall under LOLER but are treated differently.
Now in reality they're usually good for a few more uses, but they abrade quickly and don't have the same protection that "proper" slings have.
By all means keep them and use them as disposable slings elsewhere, I won't judge. But if it's a sling you use every day, then don't be tight, buy new good quality ones.

Thats probably right if they need to bring in an inspection firm, which many do.

Nothing like steel though, especially if what your rigging to isn’t perfectly round or smooth.
I keep 5 steel slings and 5 dyneema in my bag.
Bloody heavy though.
But then I have got backup ID, backup ascender, shunts, pulleys, two sets of ropes, god knows what else in there.
